Well, I guess Microsoft just got all of the rights to the MechWarrior titles. Since Activision had the rights to MechWarrior 2 series. If they had it at all.
In any case, this could be a BIG move by Microsoft, and make Microsoft a rival to Sony and it's PlayStation titles. Plus, it'll be able to offer more for the XBOX series. We could see Warcraft coming to the XBOX for those who play it.
Stay Tuned!

Microsoft already owned the rights to Battletech, but only for computer games. Non-electronic versions are still owned by Topps. Acquiring Activision will have no effect on the IP.

Other IPs are quite a bit more interesting at that Front and the WarCraft Universe is just the Beginning! The StarCraft Universe
Names as Diablo and Overwatch from the Blizzard side, or Call of Duty and others from Activision.
Those are huge names.
But what counts is the knowhow....f.e. imagine Battletech or Mechwarrior from Blizzard....

Here's a thought! Maybe they'll buy EG7, or whoever bought PGI. Hey! One can dream?!

Microsoft also bought a burning house. Developers are leaving every one of Activision/Blizzard's franchises --- COD, WOW, Overwatch, Heartstone, Diablo and so on. Developers are the real key, the real heart of the gaming industry. This house is burning and everyone is leaving and running.
I read that it was Activision Blizzard that approached Microsoft that they want to be sold.
Microsoft will also inherit the massive sex discrimination lawsuit Activision Blizzard is under.
As usual, Microsoft buys companies that are no longer in their peak and in their respective decline. Like their purchase of their Nokia's phone division in an attempt to overturn the iPhone and Android tidal wave.
You cannot have a monopoly on gaming because the gaming industry by its very nature, makes monopolies impossible. You can't have a patent lock on the FPS concept, the MMO concept, the RTS concept and so on. COD is a legend in the FPS field and remains immensely popular but the top played FPS right now is Fortnite and PUBG, in both their PC, console and mobile versions, and among the top played PvP games are MOBAs such as League of Legends, Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends. The MMO concept alone is on the way down, even as WOW leads on it, but even then the most recent expansion of Final Fantasy 14 has already overtaken it as legions of WOW players have switched. You can guess where you can play FFXIV in console --- that's right, the Playstation.
The real gem in the Actiivsion purchase was King, which makes mobile games including Candy Crush. But mobile games have no monopolistic value, no one is going to play CC on the XBox, and Microsoft has already long given up on the Windows Phone. Ironically back in the past, Microsoft bought out Minecraft as a way to bolster Windows Phone with collateral benefits to XBox. But that never worked out because games do not have a locking value to the user base towards a platform as business applications can. It also turns out that using apps to lock users to a platform has a detrimental effect on the app itself, making it lose popularity. Minecraft still runs on Android and iOS and Playstation.
