Outplayed? You mean standing under an assault and mashing the left mouse button until the assault dies?

I am sorry, but if that it is all that is needed to kill you, then it is not a problem of the mech class.
Yesterday, I was called a "cheap light ankle biting *****" despite I was not even ankle biting but all the time in his back. The irony was that dude stood near a wall. Had he moved 20m back and parked his back there I would have had to run away.

I also wonder why people are complaining. A mech is a mech. If a Marauder II gets a drop on you and blasts you to shreds, no one complains on the forum. But heck, if a light does it, then hell breaks loose. Often there is even a longer fight involved when a light mech gets the drop on someone...where no mate of the victim helps him, no missiles rain down on you, the victim doesn't pop a UAV (for missile support), doesn't watch his seismic, has no streaks etc

But I guess light pilots should also rage on the forum when they get one-shot by a heavy or assault when they do not pay attention

And sure, if you have no seismic, no ppd weapons, only weapons in your torso, only lrms etc then YOU stack the odds against you. This is also not the light mech class' fault

Its me again.

Lets see: Anni cant see piranha near legs.
Yesterday I easily killed alone Anni. He was rotating in horror, then died.

Some time ago I was in Anni and was attacked by piranha. I was totally surprised by attack. Still I tried to shoot with 2 lbx10 under my feet and managed to kill it. I was heavily damaged but even Anni can defeat pirana in open field. You just need use arms and shoot.

Quickplay can be frustrating when your team rotates away from your 48kph Assault and light packs start to snack on you, but this is an issues of a random game mode ye getting dropped in with random people that often prefer to do random things instead of lance cohesion. This is where I see the main concern of frustrating games and not in a potential OPness of a certain weight class (lights).

What often helps me to soften / prohibit lights ganking me: pick UAVs along (even as an Assault) and place em defensively in the usual approach vectors, if no one else watches your back. Lights can only own you, if you do not see em approaching ... and you should. And if you see your team nascaring away from you (or you had the "luck" of having the far-off spawn point), do not try to keep up with your team, since you can't anyhow.

Take a passive position, do not expose and let the opfor pass without engaging them (most maps offer a lot of deadspots for that), then pressure em from a flank position or pick the front position once the race-cars are close to finishing their first lap.

Lights are currently the worst performing weight class and have been forever.

If you are dying to the worst performing class of mech, is it really a mech issue?

This is exactly the definition of a Mech issue bcs obviously the bad performance is Mech based - that these Mechs belong to a certain weightclass makes it still a Mech issue bcs a weightclass is made up of functioning Mechs and not piles of dead metal.

Cetainly MWP has no real task for certain Mechs that have another role than damage dealing but as the game gets balanced for the actual game as is makes it even more a Mech issue as the game cant be changed but the Mechs can.

Although i guess Light Mech gameplay is probably also the one most impacted of all Mechs by own vs enemy skill/groupplay.

2cents.

so, you had 3113 games in -1- year. kinda impressive.

that's 3113 opportunities to see "what am I doing right" and "what am I doing wrong". then improving upon it.
but instead of that, you go to the forums and blame the worst performing weightclass in the game for ruining
your game-experience.

again: you play lots of matches. lots of lights, lots of assaults.
is it THAT hard to think about the times you got your a@s handed to you in a light and go like "Gee, that guy killed me rather fast. what a bummer. maybe I should try to copy that when I pilot the fatty" ?

I'm pretty sure threads like this are aimed at the devs and moderators to explain their upset with the current game design.. Its not for other customers.

Then they should be emailing customer service. This is drama queen behavior. Hell, this person that "left" keeps coming back and making replies. I mean, where are all the buttholes that whine about "virtue signaling" when you need them?

I don't think lights are poor performing when I can consistently do 400+ damage in them.

You don't do that consistently, though.

Wrong.

It's a player issue. Nothing more, nothing less.

The OP has a KDR of 0.8. If he was killing as "easy" or "consistent" as claimed in a light, it would not be that low. This is all being completely blown outta proportion and/or made up.. Just like many past threads before it and like many still to come.

Just another "lights OP" thread that once again, fails to demonstrate it. All the while lights are still the worst performing weight class in MWO.

The end.

Lights feel OP to a lot of assault pilots because assault pilots have a tendency to drop their engine right down in order to mount as many guns as possible, leaving them slow and sluggish and unable to cope with a light harasser. Protip: drop a few guns and up your engine so you can actually move and turn at a rate somewhat higher than tectonic movement. I have 0 problem in my assaults.
Lights on the other hand... I was tier 3, briefly, then I decided to try and play my Light mechs. Big mistake. I love them but hell, they suck so hard.

This entire thing is reminiscent of the Battleship vs Torpedo Boat issue of the late 19th/early 20th century. Torpedo boats were small, fast and light with no armour that carried torpedoes - weapons that could cripple or sink a battleship in a hit. The guns on BB's were big and powerful but too heavy and slow to aim and they could not effectively engage torpedo boats.
The answer was to bring escorting cruisers and a new class, destroyers, which were purpose built to kill torpedo boats, and also to mount secondary batteries of lighter guns that could fire faster and aim faster, and were better suited to killing the faster light units.
Coincidentally MWO also has Medium class Mechs (and some fast Heavies) and lighter, faster firing, weaponry and hardpoints in the arms. Just saying.

NoxMorbis I don't mean to be rude but your publicly available stats suggest this is a you problem. You're 36th percentile, average under 200 match score, and die way more often than you kill.

sucks that OP isn't having fun. There are lots of resources to help get better at the game and joining a unit and playing with friends also makes the game alot more fun.

Its good that lots of people are here pointing out that this is a user error scenario, because this is exactly the kind of thread that people with ulterior motives like to hijack to push their own narrative.

Usually never get my *** handed to me in a light. And, when I do, it's after I've done a decent amount of damage, or I was being waaaaay to aggressive. The closest I've ever come to Ace of Spades was , you guessed it, in my Flea.

Pretty close, especially in my Incubus, when I'm not being stupid. Maybe 350-450, I dunno. It does good.

I do I admit that. My problem isn't my ratio or etc. I accept that because I play stupid many times and I could care less about my level or anything else. I don't try to protect my KDR or anything else, in the various ways people try to protect those numbers. I could really care less.

Would it help if a person who has a REALLY high KDR with the same perspective as I have change your mind? Would that make the difference? I didn't pull this idea out of my ***. If it were just me, I'd not be bothered by it.

I agree with most everything everyone said here. If everything goes right, people protect each other, etc., then you can sometimes work around the light thing.

On the other hand, LRMs don't bother me, BTW. I hate them when I'm getting bu** *ucked by them, but I can deal with them by making my individual decisions.

Sorry to be blunt, but with your scores on Jarls you cannot be anywhere near "pretty close" to 400 dmg on a regular basis.

As feeWaiver has indicated, that's not fair. Plus, there's no way you can tell his average damage per match from those stats. its entirely possible he gets 400+ damage on a regular basis from light mechs and doesn't do as well in other classes. Or any number of things.

Essentially, you're using Jarls wrong. What it CAN be used for in this case is seeing a player complaining about light mechs who actively plays light mechs, therefore his opinion has some experience to it. bear that in mind when disagreeing with him. Posted Image
