MECHWARRIOR ONLINE LEGENDS
AUGUST 2023 PATCH NOTES

Patch Date and Time - August 22nd 2023 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: v1.4.281.0
Size: 180 MB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

This month we have 2 new Legendary 'Mechs, New Weapons, Weapon Adjustments, 'Mech Adjustments, 'Mech Quirk Adjustments, Gameplay Adjustments, Bug Fixes, a new Tournament Supporter Pack, and more!

MWO COMP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES 2023: Comp Queue has been open for teams to be created, and this month we have the first matches kicking off, as well as a new Tournament Supporter Pack! The TSP will be up and available on Tuesday with the patch, and for more info on this year's CS '23 check out this POST!

Updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, so get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!
-The MechWarrior Online Team

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Binary Lasers have an incorrect heat penalty limit. You can fire 3 without ghost heat.
  • Targeting Computers do not impact new weapons.

NEW LEGENDARY BATTLEMECHS
PLEASE NOTE: REDEEM BATTLEPASS REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE STORE PAGE (UPDATED EVERY HOUR)

STALKER "WAR EMU" BATTLEPASS REDEEM LINK: https://mwomercs.com/legends/war-emu
VIPER "SCALESHOT" BATTLEPASS REDEEM LINK: https://mwomercs.com/legends/scaleshot

The two new Legendary 'Mechs this month include the Stalker "War Emu" and the Viper "Scaleshot" (see images below). Each 'Mech will sell for $15 USD on the website, and will also be available on Steam. Each Legendary 'Mech is a new variant of an existing chassis, has a custom paint job, an "outlier" quirk, and a 30% C-Bill boost. Also included with each pack is the new mini battle pass system driven by 'Mech XP. Just by playing the 'Mech, you will earn GSP, C-Bills, MC, Premium Time, and exclusive Cockpit Items, Decals, Colors, and Bolt-Ons! However, unlike a typical battle pass system, there will be no expiration date to earn these extra items. Take as long as you need!

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_421.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

Now all we need is Clan RACs, ER Pulse Lasers, ER and Heavy Flamers, Plasma Cannons, and the Supercharger. As well as some other goodies.

Any heat weapons wound kind of be bad for the game, plasma cannons is legit just a long range heat giving weapon

Nice! Finally HAGs and some nice new lasers for IS. Does this mean we might see some Word of Blake Mechs soon? Maybe a Jihad event?

H.A.G.s are Clan RACs, they actually were in the game lore around the same time as RACs, but PGI never added them until now.

Alright new weapons! Which I'm sure will be nerfed and buffed a million times over the next 4 years xD. But nice update! I know the quirks are already pretty buff but buff the Stone Rhino! Nobody takes it because it's such a massive priority target. I play it though xD. But can't wait!

Tier 1. I barely see any in quick play or faction play. That's what I've been told the reasons why they aren't very common. I know they are buff as is. Just wish I saw more of them on the field.

And all the clanners rejoiced on this day for the blessings of Kerensky came down from above. And lo the spheroids trembled as their internal structure was torn apart to the music of the hyper velocity gauss rounds.

Praise Kerensky

first the clan weapons are so annoyed that they become nonsense and then you bring out new weapons?
it's all about selling and getting money out of the game

...how do you think games like, survive???

like, if you play the game I don't know how "more content" is literally anything but a positive.

The new Mechs are always strong when they first come out, then they are "balanced" into mediocrity shortly after being released for C-Bills.

H.A.G.s are Clan RACs, they actually were in the game lore around the same time as RACs, but PGI never added them until now.

Not exactly. The Clans reverse engineer rotaries later on, and come up with something that's about the same weight, but considerably bulkier. HAGs are something different: they don't spit out more gauss rounds faster, like a rotary autocannon does for its respective AC rounds, it fires a fusillade of smaller projectiles, which each do much less damage, but which collectively do quite a bit more.

The closest analog to HAGs is actually MRMs. They're different weapon styles, but they've got approximately the same damage outputs in the same raw numbers and are calculated the same way on TT (1 dmg/projectile, calculated in 5 dmg clusters to speed the game along, putting out 20, 30, 40 dmg in a salvo).

To be perfectly honest, though: I really enjoyed the stand-in sound for the HAGs: just your regular gauss sound, repeated for each projectile.

The new sound has too much of a "bang" to it, and sounds more like a traditional gunpowder-propelled projectile, rather than an electromagnetically propelled one.

Edit: I was hoping for something more like this:

PPS: Looks to me like the Viper wasn't the planned Legendary for this month? Some of the lasers coming out of the Executioner in the thumbnail aren't possible, yet (one looks head-mounted).
