A friend of mine is bummed about having missed the window to purchase the ECM Urbanmech variant, and we were both wondering, and desperately hoping, that at some point it will become available for purchase. We tried to get him one before the deadline but misread the deadline and stipulations for it (Had to purchase before a certain date).

Will it ever be available for purchase or is it strictly a loyalty reward 'mech that will never be up for sale or grabs again?

These mechs usually become available for regular CBill/real money purchase after a while - the regular, non-cbill-bonus, no loyalty pattern ones, that is.

The Standard Variant of Loyalty mechs should become purchasable first with MC, then eventually with CBills sometime in the future, if past observations are of any guide. Stay tuned!

Previous Loyalty Mechs (including the UM-R80(L) that you are referring to) should also be eventually available again for the Annual (Loyalty) Rewards Programme that traditionally crop up every October.

In fact, I personally would be fielding this 2nd point/question for the Road Map 2022 Q&A that's coming up soon!

Going by earlier years' patterns, I'd expect a C-Bill version to be available around April-May

Its probably the best urbie atm. That ecm bonus is stronger than it looks and with lppc and some er meds you can safely snipe in the lppc optimal while still doing meaningful damage with the er meds without showing up on radar. Basically stealth armor without the drawbacks. Posted Image

Would that be better or would LL+4 er med be better?
Both 5 hardpoints and 9 tons

Personal taste I suppose. Some prefer not mixing hitscan and projectiles but I find the dps of the lppc to be the better choice for me.

I found out that heat is my limiting factor to do more damage way more than bigger alpha so I went with LPPC and SPLs for higher knife fighting sustained dps... most games there seem to be knife fighting at some point and that extra dps seems to help to do better. other good option would be small lazors, unfortunately cannot fit extra dhs because light ferro slots or lose light ferro and start armor stripping even more which doesn't seem to be that good idea.

Other than that ECM sometimes when enemy team has loads of lurms I find this UM-r63s to be way better to do damage than my UM-r80

And cauldron could give some offensive energy buffs to K9 which is just all the way worse than R80 atm unless you go full retar.... ballistics.

edit: gotta add that um-k9 with ballistics looked so stupid idea that had to try it and it is actually super awesome... my bad.
3 Matches in
300 something damage for 1st game, got ambushed by streak ACW while skirmishing away from from friendlies.
970 dmg for 2nd game.
600 something dmg 3rd game.
