I am still not done with this Issue.

Looking at the Traits of all Mechs, it is not undo-able to see in plain sight, that Light-Mechs with MGs or Lasers are getting sooooo Many Bonus on Cool-Down and Fire-Rate, that it makes their Damage 1000% more to a similar Mech from Med, Heavy or Assault with also more Missile or Laser slots having NO-BONUS-TRAITS AT ALL!

So what does that mean:
Your Catapult A1 has cooldown 10% vs a Locust 3s with 30% Cool-down ab also Bonus to Ammo (Bonus to AMMO for a light Mech? what an insult to physics but hey ...) and a lot of other Bonus-traits + Hit-Box and Speed advantage.

Would these Mechs also have the same values vs their specialized heavier counterparts, (speed-bonus excluded) THEN we could speak of a nearly even Game-play.

I myself have the Urban with 1 Ton of Ammo I am SUPPERIOR to the above Catapult, which in-Genuin is a specialy Missile-Boat THAT should apriori have a Missile-Bonus like the said Urban-Mech, even not double the Bonus to any other Mech not Specialized.

Thanks for the laugh of the morning....

You are unable to see difference of almost 77 damage alpha and 17 damage alpha?
Catapult also unleashes about twice amount of DPS.
Jumpjets are also pretty awesome that you totally ignored, poptarting SRMs into someones face is pretty effective.

We can go do some duels... You take locust I take splatcat, for some reason I think I got pretty good chances of winning.

There is still a lot of work to be done vs the lights imbalance.

Yes there is still too much work to be done within MWO players to make them understand balance and that all mechs should be viable.

I wouldn't mind a massive nerf to light mechs. If lights also got like 3 respawns a match too.

Great!

Are you really comparing light 'Mechs with assault 'Mechs such as Blood Asp, Fafnir, Supernova or Cyclops?

Have you not noticed that assault 'Mechs can kill enemy 'Mech on a few hundred metres? Light 'Mechs would have a big problem when attempting to achieve the same.

And of course, such MG-derived firepower is always very short-ranged, if compared with the usual GR/ER PPC/ER Large laser firepower of assault 'Mechs.

CPLT-A1 Catapult can kill or damage enemy 'Mech on a few hundred metres with its LRMs. As for the LCT-3S Locust - it has 20% cooldown for its LRMs, not 30% as you say.

Could you compare the number of LRMs carried by both 'Mechs?

You would like to make light 'Mechs even weaker?

Can your UrbanMech fire some 50-60 LRMs in one salvo?

Are you talking about boosting light 'Mechs?

I do and you don't!
That is the whoel problem.
How often does this single kills happen in the first 7 minutes? Seldom

And compered to the odds of others this seldomness is the base of the calculation!

So, the Assault Mech must have a lot of luck to hit that ECM Mech, vs a light Mech which can run into the same Assault you make so inferior - which he is now 100% not casue he can not use 0 of its ability - to get that light mech!

So how do you now excuse your short-dight?

Just start firing your Assault's weapons when you see enemy light 'Mech closing. If you kill him at range, good for you. If not, just cripple him or damage him to drive him away. Damaged light 'Mechs often decide to find some easier prey.

ECM light 'Mechs are actually quite rare in MWO:
  • Wolfhound has a half dozen variants, but just one has ECM .. and it's behind the paywall.
  • Ditto for "Pirates' Bane".
  • Ditto for Urbie.
  • etc.
And the most important thing: Use Eyeball Mk. I This is your best sensor. Light 'Mech with active ECM is still visible.

Almost forgot: Many light 'Mechs in MWO can not carry ECM at all: Adder, Incubus, Jenner, Osiris, Piranha, etc.

you think it's luck, but you're saying that to rationalize your own inability to hit light mechs. you could try to get better at this, but you're more comfortable with the excuse.

Last night I ran into a PB, this little guy was tossing my salad for like a solid 10 seconds. I couldn't hit him to save my life, it was so stressful. I think he started to overheat, but either way he ran away and I survived. After the battle I did a self assessment and although alot of my armor was damage, I didn't lose a single component and no section of my mech was stripped of all its armor. After 10 seconds of sustained fire the fact I was able to survive is a testament on how little damage lights do.

Tonight I was playing HPG in my ebon Jaguar when I tried to back up and couldn't. I realized that a stealth flea was nibbling my bootyhole. Not sure how long he was up there but he managed to have stripped all of my rear armor and had turned my core yellow. Well I turned my torso around and alphastriked him center mass at point blank range. Turned him into instant macaroni, well done chef boyardee style.

Talk about an exchange, no idea how long he was tickling the prostate but in less than 1 second of counter fire he was dust. If you're constantly moving as a light you may he hard to hit but it's hard to hit anything meaningful in exchange. Stop and aim and you Can wind up slag. Life ain't easy for a light.

That was my assessment. Flea does a little better. Piranha has a better load out but no ECM option.

All are fragile.
