Have you ever watched Data and Bowsers video on just how over the top lights are with machine guns? Even knowing he was coming and taking the best builds he could - Bowser only stopped him once out of about 20 tries and typically dies in about 6 seconds. It does NOT take a lot of face time.

Yes seen that absolutely moronic video and looks like few people fell for it... "oh my god light killed assault mech 1v1 that is should not be allowed qq"
Have you ever seen bowser using weapons in those videos that are not at their best 500-1000 meters?
Give bowser quad LB10X anni and there won't be video.....

Yes, I watched that video. DATA and Bowser are NOT the typical QP players and the scenario shown in that video should NOT be the typical QP scenario. If you would like to play 1v1 games, play Solaris 7 game mode.

In QP you have two teams of 12 players. Assault 'Mech should stay with his team, so his team mates can protect such lumbering giant against fast and agile light 'Mechs.

There is one rule for situations exactly like this. I wrote it in the post #6 of this thread, but I can repeat it here:
"Do not wander around the map alone, unless you are really sure that you can defend yourself against enemy light 'Mech(s)!"

If some foolish assault 'Mech pilot decides to:
  • sleep in the drop zone and then chase his team alone across the map
  • take assault 'Mech with 30 km/h top speed, only to complain that he was left behind
  • wander around the map alone
  • go alone to cap some absolutely useless base in the most remote corner of the map
  • circle alone around the edge of the entire map because he is "flanking"
  • play a lone sniper and camp a kilometre behind his team
  • provide LRM support in his LRM Atlas from two grid squares away
... all this without being capable of protecting himself against marauding enemy light 'Mechs ...

... then he deserves to die the most horrible death imaginable, being eaten alive, lasered and machine gunned by enemy light(s) included.

For any actual newbros learning the game: Killing mechs, including lights, gets a lot easier once you tone down your mouse sensitivity. Try 0.1 instead of 1.0.

The old guard of forum warriors in denial about their lack of ability and stubbornly refusing to learn to play the game, this is probably useless to try to get trough.

Even better is having a mouse that can switch sensitivity on the fly so you can go from high sensitivity to twist like crazy to low so you can aim better. Logitech has some really good mouse software for that and I can bind toggles for multiple modes to one button.

its nice to have. my mouse does that.

this game's mouse sensitivity setting is not implemented well. it presents a sensitivity range which is mostly useless outside of twitch shooters. most users don't think to turn it way down to what on the surface seems like an absurdly low value. most shooters ive played a value of 0.7 has served me well for years, so its natural you would choose that setting in this game, but that is way too sensitive. if the setting was attenuated by a factor of 10 it would make more sense, a value of 0.1 would show up as 1. and if i used my usual i would have been none the wiser.

I think that maintaining the situational awareness is as more important as mouse settings.

Many times I have seen a player watching something happening a few metres away, while absolutely neglecting to check their close surroundings. Such players are often easy prey for enemy light 'Mechs.

Another reason I don't like playing the PPFLD sniper. Advanced Zoom is a really excellent way to ignore what's going on right in front of you if you're not careful.

Yes and no, it does limit your view a lot but I wanna see someone do full burn of ERLL on moving enemy mechs CT from 1000+meters away without it.
