My last match I caught a shadow hawk with 3 ER Large Lasers trying to backstab. Had him dead to rights. I am in a knife fighter flea R5K. Perfect match up for me. Now the pilot I have known for a while and had respect for he is one of the good ones, but his comments at the end just truly baffled me.

He stated he was not going to win the Hit Box battle. I am trying to understand why he thought he was going to win this fight at all. Or against any knife fighter. Is the opinion out there that all lights should die when we are looked at? (Never Mind I know the answer to that one) .

I dunno just curious is all. Vid below with details hidden.

you cant win with er lasers

played with er lasers ferret lately, wasnt able even leg that little monster

And.. that is why games are lost. If someone is running away and not firing back, how do they expect to do ANY damage to pests But seriously, the team that fires their weapons and hit their targets more often than their opponents will generally win the game.

1) Sorry, it was the Shadow Cat, not the Shadow Hawk.

2) I see no big mystery here. He just hoped to slip behind your team with ECM and snipe from the backfield. Unfortunately for him, you were lucky to notice him and he realized that with his build he will probably lose this fight.

This is no different from running a light 'Mech and meeting - and killing - enemy would-be sniper camping with Stealth armor somewehere, where he expected to have a perfect sniper nest. Or coming across enemy Lurmboat when you are running a brawling build.

Just a case of enemy tactics that did not work as the enemy players hoped.

Punch of bad decisions by SHC, he had bit less than 10 seconds to get into highground where you cannot follow, instead decided to charge you for some very weird suicidal reason after that... pointless jumping and busting his own legs.

But that fight was pure rock, paper, scissors fight... shadowcat with that loadout had zero chances to win that duel, without using terrain to his advantage aka disengaging, even then pretty slim chance.

Honestly I do it to show that just because someone does something impossible, it does not mean they were cheating or exploiting. I can not tell you how many times I have been one shot and no clue where or how it happened when I was in cover.


Perhaps through these types of vids, folks can see the other side and go "hmmm ok not an exploit."

first off... as a LCt pilot.. this is literally what i do every single match.. Its part of the build..

I run around the whole map.. kill a few of your assaults then I vanish...

Its not my problem you guys dont know how the game works...

just do the math.. If i can do 1000 damage in a 19.9 ton mech with only 4 small pulse lasers....

what is your excuse?

The root of the issue isn't that certain light mechs can be pretty powerful in the right hands and the right situation. It's that some pilots think that they can just waltz around the map solo and pwn everything they meet with impunity in a mech not optimized for such shenanigans. If you want to roll around solo and collect flanking lights then run one of those fast clan ssrm bombers and intercept them. But then know that your specialist build is pretty useless vs anything else you meet. Fast flanking lights also tend to be weak against other lights and I know I always bail if I see the other teams lights vectoring in on me.

LOL, seems like everyone is nascaring again, LOL there are still med and light mechs, that are shooting 30 point alphas or more i have a VIPER, with many guns and med lazers, as well as 2 big CLAN PPCS, and work great,

THE BIG question IS, at state of mind, if some ask you to join a SEAL team, 4 man death LANCE, do have the mechs ??, have learn the TACTICS, HAVE you learned team work, odds are NO you are not ready.

The Viper can be a pretty nice 'Mech sometimes. I like its mobility.

Not sure how you fit two erppcs (there are enough tonnage to just those two if you strip almost half of your max armor) med lazors and many guns.

I guess that Sawk meant that has two Viper 'Mechs - one is a sniper with a pair of ER PPCs and the other one is a brawler with lasers and MGs.

If such 'Mech suits him ...

If the game client lets him drop in the game, then it is a valid loadout for the gameplay purposes.

According to one friend of mine who had habit of dropping extremely silly builds like MG direwolf, it is not always ok to drop into game with something that game allows.... He got temporary ban for it.

Well, sometimes it is hard to say if somebody deploys in a funny build because he wants to have a silly fun, or because he thinks that his loadout really works.

HMM honestly i have 4 VIPERS, some i built to play in team years ago, supporting light mechs, just remmeber to max the ARMOR, : )
