The Great MWO Outage March 21, 2022--and how to recover from it.
14+ hours of MWO game offline as of this writing, with no MWO/PGI explanation!!

In that time, I've had plenty of time to contemplate gaming life with MWO,
and actually played other online games in the meanwhile.
Make no mistake; confidence in MWO as a consistent ongoing game has been shaken.

Proposal: How to regain MWO players goodwill, loyalty, and to retain players.

Give all MWO players an one-off 50% Off Coupon to purchase anything over US$49.95 dollars (coupon offer expires 31-March-2022).

MWO regains MWO players' goodwill and loyalty, players get to finally buy that mech pack (or MC!) they always wanted and would fondly be proud of that purchase!

Actually, there was a DNS service outage yesterday and into this morning that affected a lot of providers. This isn't something that happened on PGI's end.

If it's due to something PGI manages, I'm confident they will accept responsibility. In outage situations in the past, they have extended events and granted free Premium time. But if it was not on their end as ScrapIron Prime said, and most players could play then it wasn't a real outage.

i was able to get it to work again by changing my dns. it took me 2 hours of troubleshooting. i was trimming services earlier in the day, i thought i broke something. i spent most of that trying to figure out which ones i turned off. after this i updated my router, flushed my dns and still no bueno. i found an old thread on the workarounds forum where people just switched their dns to google, cloudflare, etc and were able to get back on. so i switched to google and it worked.

For some quantification of the "outage" : Player numbers according to steam yesterday were down by about 15-20% compared to the previous week.

Australian Internet has been down as well today.. Like every Aussie website is gone.
