Public stat: I think it'd be useful to know how much dmg a 'mech has gotten, to see the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams.

Well, it depends ...

Sometimes a 'Mech can eat lots of enemy fire, but it could be "inefficient" damage, simply because that player was caught out of position, did something stupid or so ...

I wouldn't care about a public stat, but I would like a more detailed death report (hit locations, damage amounts, etc). The current one is pretty lacking and sometimes when I die I am not sure exactly what the problem really was when a few are taking pot shots. Also would be useful for tweaking your armor numbers a bit if you saw there were specific places taking a larger number of hits. I mean, you can discern some of this information with loads of experience and such, but I should be able to see everything that added up to my death at the end. Were those LRMS really worth hiding from? Was walking through the artillery all that bad? Could I have won that brawl if I hadn't taken as much poke damage? I think it would be nice at least.

if you want stats to improve, take those that are
a) already public
b)actually useful
example:
https://leaderboard....=technopredator

damage done says not so much (showcase: any badly aimed weapon, but really: lurms), damage taken says little to nothing (another case of bad aim and/or lurms).
simply put: focus on killing, focus on winning, and the rest comes naturally.

There are some mechs where after playing a few matches you realize you really don't need much armor on legs. Like the warhammer, I've never lost a leg and for some reason people rarely target it. So I only have like 20 armor on them.

I agree with OP, something to help track and analyze post battle data would be nice.

Are these good stats?

Damage taken is a very unreliable stat that is hard to make any meaningful observations of.

Taking high damage consistently could mean:
1. you are awesome at rolling damage.
2. You suck and get shot from many directions a lot.
3. You cant seem to deal with LRMs and they hit you a lot.
4. You play standard engine builds only and undergun yourself constantly
5. You hang out in crowds too much and eat a lot of superficial damage from artillery and stray shots meant for teamates.

Taking low damage consistently could mean
1. You are very lethal / good at trading and dont take a lot of return fire.
2. You get caught standing still a lot.
3. You are dumb and run stock armour values
4. You use your team as a buffer/cannon fodder for your blue lasers like you are some well known android person.
5. You often roll over enemies quickly with your team before they get to shoot back much.

Even having both high damage and high damage taken could ve seen as good or bad. You could be carrying the team and shrugging off enemy fire like a hero. Or you could be spamming out a ton of superficial spread damage while dieing early.

I been told based on my stats I actually hurt my team when I drop with them

following that same mentality if I take more damage then I put out I need to either get better or leave the game

why PGI decided to add dmg taken I don't know

but it (for me) forces me to eventually make a decision/direction
either leave game or get better

Yeah IDK about that. Think of it this way. You're taking the damage for a other player who could be an asset for the team!

Atleast that's what I tell myself.

Or alternately, you're standing in the wrong place and taking damage that nobody needs to take. Posted Image

Damage taken isn't a functional stat, really, because no amount of getting shot actually wins the game, its just a necessary hazard of shooting at the red team.

A little different, but I'd love to see final paper dolls for all players.

I'm just depleting their ammo reserves, some of us play the long game. 😉
