Hi All, incredibly new player here.

Have been playing the game for a couple days now, and for some reason, the game always, always, crashes right before a match starts. It gets through map and gamemode select just fine, but crashes upon match start Consistently.

I have reinstalled the game, updated drivers, and then installed the game on a different platform, and it still doesnt work.

The Omicron.log spits out something near the end along the lines of "[Error] Error: CTexMan::ImagePreprocessing: Scaling of 'materials/decals/mech/15thdracon_factions_std.dds' compressed texture is dangerous (only single mip)"

For several lines on several different, what I can only presume decals.

If anyone knows a fix for this I would appreciate it as I can literally not play the game.

This seems to only happen with online matches, entering the training grounds seems to function perfectly fine.

I would point you to https://mwomercs.com...l-cpus-and-mwo/ but since you are actually able to get into the game, the question would be, whether the game is actually crashing, throwing up an error or if the issue is whether or not the client isnt able to connect/receive necessary information from the servers while attempting to connect.

Copy/pasted from another thread. Also you should post the entire log.. some of those lines in the log appear all the time, even when a player doesnt run into any actual issues playing the game.

When the general player base isnt affected, then 99% of the time it is not direct server related but lost of packets from the servers to the player's client. The forum servers, the authentication server (when connecting with the actual client) then each game server.
  • If using ISP managed modem/router/gateway, an update, software or firmware, could be causing issues.
  • ISP DNS hosting issues.
  • Problematic router system that your pathway takes to the servers, particularly the authentication server in Canada.
  • Reboot computer
  • Check all cable connection, loosen/tighten.
  • Power cycle router/modem
  • System Power Options - set to High Performance
  • DNS flush (reboot computer afterwards
  • Wireless? connect via ethernet
  • With Router/Gateway by ISP owned equipment, troubleshoot by disabling the security software, not NAT.
  • The above, if system has different options, turn off SPI if so named.
  • Change DNS from default (ISP) , either on computer itself or router/gateway
  • Connect via smartphone's hotspot, thus using mobile network. Troubleshooting, does issue still occur? And 5G is definitely faster than 4G Posted Image but ya looking for a consistent connectivity without issues.
  • Use of VPN, either via ISP or mobile. I use my Norton's VPN when troubleshooting. A few of my game's..frown on continuous VPN use due to potential of abuse with 3rd party software. PGI isn't one of them though.
  • Standalone? Try Steam, or vis versa.
Oh, and doing an uninstall does not remove all of the files. There is still the Saved Game folder C:\Users\XXXX\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online. Yan can rename the MWO folder. Or rename keep Profiles (rename to retrieve later) and Screenshots then delete all the other files/folders before reinstalling

HMM i say, you have an outdated computer, and or software, you really do need a higher end computer with good graphics card, and updated software.

Hi,
Setting texture quality on High should get rid of those errors (But you need around 3gb vram on your graphic card).

I'm not sure if it will solve your crashes, but you can still try even if you have less than 3gb vram.

I will attempt the fixes you described, but here's the full log in any case.

To be fully clear, the game was previously working fine, I was able to play in multiplayer matches, and I am still able to enter training grounds. This is a recent development

Please notice most of the info deals with connectivity issues since nothing has been posted about actual window/game error boxes popping up. And instead of piecing out the info, try this first, etc, I like to provide all possible steps that can be taken.

Just to ask to make sure it is out of the way.. The game doesnt have any sound mods added?

Then what has changed may be either software/firmware for router or gateway (combo router+modem), especially if you do not own the equipment, or antivirus/security software on computer (updates) and/or ISP change or a problematic router system (node) that lies between your system and the servers. Potential ISP/gateway issues can be gathered from boardband sites for that provider that may not pop up on a game forum.

ISP
General location, ie Texas, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, etc?
Wired or wireless orcombination
Modem or Gateway brand and model
Router brand and model
