Seeing the new paintjobs comming in and just haveing painted 17 Clan mechs in their respective Clan patterns, would you guys be interested to see official camo patterns for mechs in a package that contains "Unit Decal + pattern" ?

For example you could buy a "Clan Seafox - Tiburon Khanate" Pack that contains the Clan Seafox Decal + Pattern.
Same goes for the IS, maybe the "1st Tamar Jaegers" are more your thing, then you would get a Steiner Decal + Pattern.

Also in general, would you like to see more official paintjobs? I mean MWO has somewhat general patterns for some of the houses and clans but nothing from the official source.

I wonder why PGI hasn't done any of this allready anyway. Legal reasons, no artist, lack of canon sources?

What is your favorite paintscheme/unit to make it into MWO?

Clan -> Clan Ghost Bear - Rasalhague Galaxy

IS -> Free Worlds League - Silverhawk Irregulars
(because its actualy 3 schemes in one unit Posted Image )

Sounds fantastic!

Sign me up for the the FRR's Freemen pattern. It would be another great addition to The MWO Body Shop (and SalonPosted Image ).

i think you could make a bundle selling custom skin forms. you download a pack of texture templates, you select the one for your desired mech, fill it in, and submit it to pgi for implementation in the game. pricing is based on certain skin features. base pack would be like $20 and would let you add one skin to the game. if you want shiny bits, add $10. skins added to the game can be bought by anyone at the usual rate for premium skins. if you want it exclusive to your unit thats an extra $10, exclusive to you alone, thats $20. there might be bulk rates if you want to buy multiple skins, like 4 for the price of 3.

only problem with this would be it would make the size of the game rather large. so the price would need to be high or supply highly limited. or you might limit the number of skins each person can upload. skins would have to be approved for content. it would need to comply with the tos and not violate any 3rd party copywrites.

I like the idea of player made skins. I would be completly for it. Problem I see too is that this kind of content would have to be supervised by someone at PGI. Looking through everything, see that its conform with copyrights, terms of use, not offensive, etc. etc. etc.

Allready on that side I can imagne that there would be a lot of work involved. Espacialy on the legal side of things it could be to much. I mean do you know every bit of media that someone could copy that could possibly step on someones copyright toes?

I think it would be much more practical to put it up a vote for a specific faction and ask people what is your most favorite pattern from that specific faction and then create the bundle.

The other option I could see that would kinda go in your direction is that PGI gives out a template to download and asks people to create a very specific piece.
Like here is the Awesome-Texture-Template, go and create a Free Worlds League pattern for it. The best will be taken over into the game.

That would put some of the workload off from PGIs shoulders, give the community some involvement into the game while keeping everything much easier to supervise.

you would just need some basic vetting and a system for copywrite strikes. if the penalty for pushing copywrited content is forfeiture of the fee and the removal of your skin from the game, it would discourage players from ignoring the rules. vetting for tos would be significantly simpler. public vetting could be problematic, as mob justice and nitpicking trolls could really discourage people from putting in the effort to make the skins in the first place. have like 3 or 4 employees spend a couple minutes looking at each texture and everyone they approve is money in the bank.

Royal Black Watch Regiment, please. For both IS and Clan ’Mechs.

Though we already have the Tartan camo pattern, the tartan itself is a bit more widespread on any given chassis than the Black Watch had it on their ’Mechs. Though if they don't get their specific tartan pattern in, I'd be content with just the decal. Posted Image
