MECHWARRIOR ONLINE

May 2022 Patch Notes

Patch Date and Time - May 24th 2022 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: 1.4.254.0
Size: 1.0 GB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

This Patch has been a long time in the making. Some of the features included in this update, specifically the Event Mode Queue and the Skill Tree Improvements, have been in the works for almost 2 years! There's a lot included in this patch, so take your time reviewing the Patch Notes, and have a great time exploring these new features...and if you enjoy them, tell a friend or two or ten!

Included in this patch are the NEW Event Mode Queue, Skill Tree Improvements, Quirk Display and Information Update, new Platinum Collection 'Mechs, Quirk Pass 10, Weapon, Equipment and 'Mech adjustments, and a lot more. Check it all out below!

Coming in June: The Crusader 'Mech, a New Quick Play Map, and more!

As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes.

So get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!

-The MechWarrior Online Team

EVENT QUEUE MODE
The launch of the Event Mode Queue is here! This gives us the ability to mix and match our Game Modes, Maps, 'Mechs, and Special Modifiers to provide variety and create new gameplay experiences that will change regularly.

SKILL TREE IMPROVEMENTS
We've updated the Skill Tree to hopefully make it more fun to skill your 'Mechs, make it easier to understand, significantly reduce the number of clicks and time it takes you to skill a 'Mech, and removing the need to take skills you don't need or want.

QUIRK DISPLAY AND INFORMATION UPDATE
We've updated the 'Mech Quirk Display and Information so that the Quirks are color-coded and categorized by the Quirk Type, and to visually separate the Default 'Mech Quirks from the Skill Tree Quirks.

NEW PLATINUM COLLECTION 'MECHS
This month we release 2 new Platinum Collections featuring the Spider SDR-5D, Cicada CDA-3M, JagerMech JM6-DD, and King Crab KGC-000 for the Inner Sphere, and the Incubus INC-4, Vapor Eagle VGL-3, Hellfire HLF-A, and the Kodiak KDK-3 for the Clans. Each Platinum Collection comes with 4 Platinum 'Mechs, 4 Mech Bays, Platinum Pattern Unlocks, and the (P)latinum 'Mechs get a 30% C-bill Boost!

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_400.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

It's an interesting idea... perhaps a trial for things to come?

Also 'Navid A1', since you and the rest of The Cauldron had to do this...

Quote

MLX-Prime:
  • Reduced Missile heat to -5% on RT (from -10%)
...would it be possible to add "-5% Heat on MLX-Prime 1M-Only LA" (without removing any other Quirks which the MLX-Prime LA OmniPod possesses) please, since the Mist Lynx's MLX-Prime Stock Loadout (and other Loadouts which use that 1M-Only HardPoint LA OmniPod) should not have to suffer because of Meta Abusers misuse of the RT OmniPod on their things with some other LA that has 2M HardPoints available? I figure that will help to give the MLX-Prime LA some more improved value and possibly pull some people away from a 4M HardPoints combination down to a 3M HardPoints combination because they would then weigh the give-and-take of having Heat Reduction (and certain other things) versus not getting enough. :)

There's gonna be more of these on other mechs I bet. I can see it on jump-reliant mechs like SCats and Summoners.

Any word on how you will help users who had skilled mechs who will become broken after the patch due to not always getting all the nodes required in sequence?

It seems like an odd decision to nerf IS MGs while the best IS MG boats have 20-30% MG ROF quirks. The nerfs look fair enough, but this is pushing IS MGs towards only being useful on the very best IS MG boats, when the quirks could simply be removed from those mechs and keep MGs more viable on other mechs.

Obviously for clans, there's no avoiding balancing the entire weapon system around the best few MG boats.

The rest of the patch looks very exciting. And I like SRMs more than MGs anyways so I don't know why I bothered to type this. Yay hitscan nerfs, hurrah for leading targets Posted Image

HM is getting this because it's a bad mech.

Dude, if they want to fix it, take out the lower-arm actuator so it can put an AC20, with 3 SNPPCs, or with 2x UAC5 + 2x HPPC.

"Show me on the doll where the clanner touched you with his machine gun".

The bleak news:
The factionplay dumpsterfire has progressed into a heap of smouldering ash.
Finding new blood is a cruel joke.
More nerfs for clans.(noooooo, you don't say?!)
12 man units have pushed out the few, remaining average units from FP.
Leaving only other 12 man comp groups.
These groups don't really want to "comp".
No. That's difficult.
They only want to stomp pugs.
By their actions, there are no more pugs.
Repeat until game death.

Hell of a pattern.

Yeah, they should look at just buffing base MG damage, leave the crit nerfs in place and start rolling back some of the MG quirked mechs. They've added more ammo per ton, and made them fire faster, they might as well increase damage instead.

I really hope the event queue wont be like pictured everytime with GOD mode cheat hack speed, unlimited ammo etc. that just reduces the game to some pre beta in dev software. i can see once a month for fun shenanigans, but not all the time, even if it does switch every few days...but not GOD hack mode....

Thanks for supporting the game!

Some of the lights with 2 or more AMS should get AMS ammo bonuses, you hardly ever see lights running AMS (other than kitfox) because it such a large relative investment. Anansi and the AMS pirahna and locust come to mind.

I haven't been this excited for an MWO patch since clan mechs were introduced in the game!
Except for the Warhawk prime nerf. Who in the nine hells would think the Warhawk needs a nerf?

Pretty sure the Warhawk Prime change was due to the overall velocity increase of C ERPPCs.

I do. its to compensate for the 10% velocity buff that cERPPCs are getting in this patch. Nothing changes for the WHK, it just doesn't get an indirect buff.

No, you do not.
Other clan mechs like the Adder and Blood asp didn't get this reduction in their PPC velocity quirks, so they are effectively receiving an extra 10% velocity. In the grand ecosystem the Warhawk prime (and a couple others) have been nerfed.
