sadly we just don't have the population anymore for the MM to work as intended. though honestly we will keep hemorrhaging players the more this continues. its a downward spiral the will eventually kill the game. you have meta try hard cry babies in their same 4 mechs with same 4 builds and then you have folks like me who just play for fun and say screw the meta this build fits my play style and is fun.
trouble is you have the over competitive try hards mixed in with brand new players who just got out of tier 5. what do you think is going to happen. if a player finds they get stomped 9 times out of 10 by the same 2 or 3 unit names on a constant basis they are more than likely going to give up and go elsewhere. the learning curve for MWO is steep enough without mixing T1 with T4 players.
this all rolls right back to the population problem. to get the MM to function properly and to have reasonable wait times we need more players. i know MWO is an old game reaching the end of its life cycle but PGI need to put some effort into getting the game out there. i have lost count of the times i have told someone on Discord that i was playing MWO to hear them say "what is that, i never heard of it". now i often try to get them to give the game a try but few rarely stay as the learning curve even with help from those that have played for years is just to much for some people. those that stay long enough to get out of T5 and into mid T4 have started to run into those far far more skilled get crushed repeatedly and just quite. (or say have very vocal people **** talking their builds or bitching when they bring LRM even if they are using them properly. there is a toxicity to the meta cry babies that is driving new players away. these same people rarely give any actual advice other than you should only bring this mech with this build, nothing else works. instead we should support new players and give advice based on what they are trying for not what is meta.). worse are those that see the rewards available in faction and after getting enough mechs fro a dropdeck give it a try only to find that Faction play is probably the most toxic part of the entire game. (perhaps Comp play was worse but i never felt the need to even dip a toe into that cesspool)
simply put the MM wont function properly until we get more players and new player attraction and retention should be the focus of the devs for a while. (also cut the price of those older mech packs i don't know anyone who would pay the price of a AAA game for mechs they can just get mostly with in game currency. cut those old packs down to like $10 and you might get some people to actually spend money on the game. its the main reason i have never spent a dime, everything is just way to expensive. the $20 packs were a good start if they weren't just new versions of existing mechs. (i got my Striker Pack as part of a contest that someone was doing on the forum for odd but effective builds using the the first set of Cauldron weapon balance passes. its an alright pack but i would not have spent real money on it.))

Besides, they people here on this web site complained about wait times so much PGI listened and loosened to rules to get faster matches. And now people blame PGI? LOL... For what? For listening?
We have some people complaining about 4 man groups too, and I know for a fact I failed to recruit one person specifically because I couldn't group with him in QP.
I should make a unit called Roughnecks and Rejects, or something, no requirements to join, everybody can be an officer for the asking, and dedicate it to drag y'all's buttons to T1.
Unless someone is at the bottom of T5 they aren't getting stomped more than 50% of the time. This whole thread is just more hyperbolic whining. Y'all want to have better games? Join a unit, and or send friend Invites in game. Get with 3 other people and communicate.
Even that won't make it foolproof. I get to see tier one 4 man groups get smashed 0-12 in QP regularly too
It happens. Rng. Don't take it personally or as a sign you're a bad player or unlucky or that MM is unplayable broken.
There are a million factors that control the outcome of a game. MM is just one of them.
It's just rng.
