ok its pretty obvious that the inner sphere free mech will be represented by the crusader. its ALL YOU SEE IN THIS EVENT.

but how can that be a free mech when its not for sale for cbills?
are they just gonna pick second best IS mech and completely ignore the fact that 95% of mechs in this event are crusaders legging anything they see with 12mgs?

really curious how this will work. id like a free crusader thats for sure. but i highly doubt it will be free before it goes on sale.

this event was not thought out very thoroughly.

It's not an event. This is that abomination Solaris7 where people are in a battle arena. They know the maps so it's like why even bother moving at all, just stand still and they might even think you're afk. The conclusion is the same every time. I shoot at you , you shoot at me A, B,C

I've played 100+ Solaris Event matches, and have observed a healthy distribution of mechs.

A wide variety of mechs were fielded, both IS+Clan.
Specifically, I'm seeing Mad Dog SRM boats much more than Crusader mechs.
I've only seen some Crusader mechs (mostly Crael, 6T).

I myself have been leveling up semi-skilled mechs (1st kill of the day = 16 Skill Points if you also have Premium Time! 8 Skill Points per win!), and sometimes dying, to the benefit of opponents.

I myself have the full Crusader roster of mechs, but have only used these sparingly, for above reason.
And the Crusader Crael can be defeated too, as I've also learnt!
Each mech has its own weakness...

Some people will go to great lengths to complain.

Crael is ineligible to be the September Free 'Mech, as it is a Hero 'Mech. The event clearly states only 'Mechs with a C-Bill variant can be the free 'Mech. All the Craels running around eating feeties are doing it specifically because the event is wildly profitable if you can consistently win.

Also worth noting, it's not the most popular 'Mech that wins, it's the best performing. 'Mechs that are widely fielded but lose as often as they win aren't going to make the cut. It's the 'Mechs that win most, and while Crael is a jerk, I've killed more of them than they've killed me. They absolutely can lose, you just have to know how to fight them. Go for an arm or shoulder first, cut their damage in half early. if you can harvest a shoulder before they get a leg, you'll be in good shape. Frankly that goes for the entire event - shoot for shoulders, not CTs. Half the Inner Sphere junk will pop from XL checks, and anything else loses half or more of its armament if you pick the correct shoulder. On top of tending to move slower. Which, to whit:

There's plenty of gameplay to be had. Honestly this event has been super interesting, save for the stretch in Where's Waldo caves. Tons of different strategies out there, I've seen people trying all sorts of whacky oddball junk. Rocket Memes, RAC Attacc, purpose-built all-or-nothing Solaris gladiators with gigantinc autocannons and maybe two tons of ammo, SL spam - I've seen a wider array of builds in this event than I do in most QP matches, honestly. People are playing different strategies and it's fun. Sure there's a set of standard go-to builds, but there always will be. Just because they exist doesn't mean you can't work around them. I'm maintaining a frankly fantastic (for me) W/L rate through sheer dint of moving fifty to seventy klicks an hour faster than all my competition and literally running rings around them, using terrain to disengage freely when I need to and making SRM strafing runs against targets that are often unable to keep their guns on me.

There's more to Solaris than two Fatbros standing in the middle playing rock 'em sock 'em robitz.

There's a fair amount of crusaders but not even 25%. And they reliably lose to certain other options. I've been beating Craels and 6Ts reliably in the WHM-BW and MAD-5M. 6T with 12 SPL is much stronger than Crael, but its still in trouble in certain matchups.

If its best performing, don't be surprised if we end up with a Warhammer or Catapult.

Faction play did this already and you got a whole lance. Here you get one mech and you're done.

I've been the only crusader I've seen, and after quickly losing my arms a few times I gave that up.

Toughest ive gone up against have been Crusader, Orion IIC and Orion in that order, and probably also quantity of those mechs would be in that order as well

I really don't want Orions this month. Blegh. But man, they're difficult to claw down. Slow as hell, but dripping with armor and gear. They're basically the assault 'Mechs of this event.

You're wrong. I killed bazillions of lobotomized craels in the event. I even beat a guy that I know for sure is a better player than me because he was in a Crael. Just aim for CT while they stare. Easy kill. You can't do that? Aim better or get a better build. If you're a mid or long range mech you need yo shoot their CT with sightlines once or twice before they close in to their optimal to finish them off up close. If they go for your legs just shield the other leg with the damaged one while you drill his CT

Just luck on your part. I've seen Thunderbolts, Timber Wolves, many Catapults, Linebackers, Orions, Black Knights, and others. Not a single Crusader, however.

Finally got into a Group of 2 in the final 15 minutes of this 2x2 Steiner Coliseum Solaris Event, got in 3 games,
and it was brilliant! Wish we could have played for more Posted Image

I would definitely play more Heavy/Assault Solaris type Events in the future, if they nerf/disable flamers like what they did to Solaris7 (2021) previously!

Definitely!

Overpowered flamers made some of the games an ordeal rather than fun.

the CRAEL was the one that performed the best. yet they give us an orion.

WHY EVEN HAVE THIS EVENT IF YOU ARENT GOING TO DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU WILL DO.

give us a crusader variant not some mundane mech 85% of players already have.....

i had this mech all the way back in year one of the game when you needed to max out 3 different variants....
the V variant outshines it in every way so i sold it.

i dont want another one but hot damn a crusader would be pretty cool.
it would actually give me a reason to play the game....

again, very poorly thought out event, VERY VERY POORLY HANDLED OUTCOME WHEN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEM CRUSADER MECH CLEARLY OUTSHINED EVERYTHING ELSE.

and the summoner sounds ok until you remember its a clan mech and theyre basically all useless fodder in this current meta

They said from the start that only standard variants available for C-Bills would qualify. It was thought out and handled just fine. And it was a good call to give out the SMN-B instead too.

Snip as it's basically just a rant

It's posts like this that just show, no mater what PGI does someone is going to complain about it. An event that most folks seamed to really enjoy which followed with 2 free mechs to players is some how a horrible PGI thing.

Outside of maybe you getting your butt kicked by crusaders, it was not the top mech.. summoners and clans in general are also solid. There are more good performing mechs of both sides these days than ever before.. yet the classic you can't please everyone.

If you really want a crusader, you can either Buy the pack and get a platium version in nov to add to it, Or you can wait another month or so and grab one from c-bill bills or a month earlier by spending some of the crap tons of Free MC they hand out monthly.

But typically most mechs with flamers boated are lacking in damage. I'm sure they hurt some builds, but chain fire often destroys those boats as they are capped at 90%.. though maybe there is a flamer boat that also has crazy DPS that i don't know about?
