THAT is the kind of map we need more of.. not e-sport arenas like the maps we've been getting lately..
Just rolling hills, craters, SHALLOW canyons and foliage..
Please, PGI, make maps like that!
And please consider keeping an asset-free version of tourmaline in-game?

These kids don't want cover, they wanna lurm.
I've played the map twice, thankfully in a bracket where everyone already knew lurms are bad and didn't bring them..
But it didn't stop the matches from turning to a blob v blob rotato factory.

What map does stop it from happening in quick play though?

Francois has done a really good job with the maps.
But no, seeing all your enemies immediately from the drop, and rotating around rolling hills until one blob wins does not make for more dynamic or strategic play.

I know MW4 had engine limitations as to why visual range was limited and you couldn't see across maps, but man do I miss it for maps like these.

Happy to have the geometry back, but maybe they could tidy up some of the clipping in the process.

i think what people are liking is the novelty, not so much that the map has improved. ive always considered tourmaline one of the better playing maps in the game as there are a lot of different ways it plays out. the additional asset geometry was always full of bad hitboxes, and there are a few happy to see that go as well.
what it does show is that terrain-only maps can work out pretty well and doesn't need to be full of assets to be viable. you are going to have softer curves and no hard angles but there are a lot of environments that can work out without those, like sand dunes.
