Has anyone had differing ping in the last few months? Roughly 4-5 months ago, i've noticed that i've been getting jumping ping from 12-70ms when located in Montreal and more recently 50-60 ping some games and 180-250 some others. All located in only in NA. Has something changed?

Something has definitely changed. I averaged ~22 ms for years. Now it bounces all over. I've communicated with PGI Support many times and only get the usual "Try all this" list. Which of course, doesn't work because I had it all in place already. Nothing has changed with my i.s.p. or my connection to my rig. (NOT wifi, hardwired, all permissions through firewall in place, blahblah.) Same time frame as you, 4-5 months ago this started.

And to add insult to injury, a month or 2 back started getting the 2 "network error" pop ups when starting the stand alone launcher and at the sign in screen in game. NEVER had these problems before.

Same deal when asking support for help.
Many other players I talked to having the same issues.

Have you done a trace route?

This really does sound like something happened to a network node, as if traffic is being re-routed because something went down. Maybe a major network cable went down? Maybe a major server? I can only conjecture. This sounds like something outside of PGI's control. Possibly outside of your ISP's control as well.

Admittedly, I'm just tossing out ideas. But this just sounds like something that's bigger than PGI or a local ISP.

Emailed PGI, they came back saying the server IP changed. Explains why I no longer have 6-12 stable ping anymore. They gave me the new up and tracert did come back with the 4 node being very high ping, 150+. In Cali from what research shows. Goes from Quebec to 2 other places to Cali to back to Quebec. Makes lots of sense to me.

But of course Known. It's part of their "Things to try" list. Do a trace route and send it to them to analyze.
They came back with the list again and no usable info. What Fork stated above is the most I've heard.
Many other players have said they are having the same issues.
We can only hope they come up with a remedy for this I guess. The ping thing is somewhat annoying but the "network error" instances are very damn annoying.

As far as I can remember you get that server error when there are DNS issues.

DNS issues typically resolve on their own.

As far as routing goes, that is probably something you have to take up with your ISP.

I live in Asia. Used to have 80ms ping in Oceanic server, now it is 240ms. NA and Europe of course are 200+ ms too. Posted Image

i kind of wish server opt in was a little bit better. i like to leave them all enabled for shorter wait times, but i still kind of want to specify a preferred server or be able to rank servers by preference. theres lots of situations where the game picked oceanic but you can tell by the pings that everyone is clearly playing from a different region, it should be a bit smarter.

They 100% did. They gave me the new IP address and wrote in the email that it's different than a few months ago.

Cool, I guess it's exactly the same distance from me then.

Has less to do with the distance and more with the routing. I was having issues with one of the nodes causing most of the issue.

Here's a copy of the email from PGI if anyone wants to do a TraceRoute
