I wasn't calling all Tier 1 pilots douchebag griefers! Holy Cow! Posted Image I deeply apologize for any confusion I caused. The pilots I'm referring to have all the skills of a Tier 1. Maybe they are Tier 1 because they play the game, maybe they just walked in off the street to play the game and they are gifted with all the skills of a Tier 1. I only use Tier 1 so that you have a frame of reference for what skill level they represent. Regardless, their chief characteristic is being a douchebag that wants to make the game suck for normal pilots. Again, sorry for any confusion. <edit> By the way, thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify what I meant. Some people wouldn't have been that cool. Posted Image

all good, mate. no worries.

as said: yes, there are some douches in T1 - like in any tier. skill at a game and 'social skills' don't necessarily come in the same package.
that being said: they're far and in between; even in my more active time I could have given you but a HAND full of names. the rest is just as chill, fun and great to hang out with as in any other tier. maybe even more, cause ppl get less fuzzed out by misplays or weird-sh1t-play, as a group can compensate that. or even 'force it'.
if you've ever seen a glorious 'urbie rush' in FW, followed by ANOTHER waves of urbies stomping everything into the ground*, you'll know what I mean.. doesn't get much more fun than that without trying REALLY HARD Posted Image

*or so they think

I'll throw my 2 cents into this, my main metric is w/l I like to keep it above 1. What I've seen since the GQ was shutdown is there is a lot of players who, their personal game is all, they could care less if their team wins. They are almost always the last player alive on the losing team with high damage, generally not many kills though.

This is the match that really triggered me.
Make of it what you will but this was a great fight.
I hear some of you saying, damage, damage, damage, but my damage was on par with the rest of the players in the match, except for the super hero. Overall a lower/mid range damage match.

So, can someone please explain to me why in this match the 4th best match score generates an equal sign?
I've read posts from people with more credibility than me than a match score of 250 or above nets a green arrow.
It's a serious question.
Also that must mean that the best the losing team could do in this situation is draw an equal sign?
And that's normal?
Did the superstar on the winning team really bend the curve so hard? Why is that even possible?

Remember from my previous post, you are rated against the other 23 players, with the Winning team getting a small modifier? The Winning Team also had a few players with extremely high MS, as well as the Losing side doing their share.

If the player with 970 MS had been D/C and a zero MS, it would not have been enough to raise you from that equal size. Your own team also did well on MS, not the 500+ but still.

Just from your team, if the 4 players w/lowest MS had only hit 200 MS or less you would have received an UP arrow. It would have been just 1 PSR point but it would have been an update arrow. Or if 2 players with lowest MS on your team had generated only 100 MS, you would have moved up by 1 PSR point. Or if the two players with the 2 next higher MS had actually generated only 200 MS, would you have received that UP arrow.

OR.. on the winning team, if all but the top 3 players had generated only 100 MS each, then you would have received an Up arrow and moved up 1 PSR point.

In the end, only 6 out of the 24 had actually received the UP arrow, while 3 or 4 received the equal size. (unknown rounding direction).

Just for yourself, you would have needed a 405 MS to have received an UP arrow of 1 PSR point if everything stated the same. And that 405 MS would have also dropped your teammate with 374 MS from an equal size to a Down arrow and the loss of 1 PSR point.

Just a question, but do we get paid to be Tier 1 or some kinda cool **** or something? I might play 20ish games a year in QP but if there's monetary compensation I'll play enough to bump my 3/4ths Tier 2 to Tier 1 for some cash.

Generous PGI makes monthly payments of $250, as long as you are in Tier 1. Now you know it ... Posted Image

And of course, you get this shiny golden badge: Posted Image

They'd have to pay me in additional drop deck tonnage. I wanna drop 5 Scorches in FP.

Thanks for cranking out all this math! Seriously, you didn't have to bother and I really appreciate it.

OK, Ok, I'm convinced this was just a weird game, and maybe an outlier, but I hope at least some of you understand how infuriating it could be on the surface where you can't see how the sausage is made.

Oh, and to 'GoatHiLL' I can't wait for the rematch! Same teams? Posted Image

Agreed, that looks like a really weird game, an outlier when compared to most of my personal games. Even looking at the numbers again, the most of the low scoring MS players were on the winning side.

If your team had won, only Goathill w/his 970 MS would have received an UP arrow (35 PSR pts), as well as their number two at 506 (6 PSR pts) while the rest of their team would have received DOWN arrows, no EQUAL signs. As for your side, on a Win with your 379 MS you would have received an UP arrow worth 9 PSR pts, 11 would have received UP arrows ranging from 9pts to 1pt, and the 12th one w/243 MS would have received an EQUAL sign.

Of course, if the Win/Lose had been switched, the end MS would have been slightly different since there is a difference in the Win/Loss number itself. I think the difference is 10 MS pts now, or something like that. That would have been the only real difference with the MS. Fun times Posted Image
