Bought this mech during the sale. Just wanted to shout out that this thing is a beast. Im close to, 900? average over 24 games, with 57 kills 11 deaths, the thing is nuts. If you love Dakka, buy the SNS D.

Ehhh, you are still probably better off using the Night Gyr B with Quad UAC5s or the 6 UAC2 boat. The problem with the Sunspider is it has such a broad CT that doesn't really benefit running dakka. The mech is a shoot n scooter so PPCs are probably the best option for better or worse. Even laser vomit can be iffy because it just doesn't rotate damage as well as some of its other heavy counterparts (Summoner, Night Gyr, Timber Wolf).

The 25% jam quirks plus the ability to boat all ballistics high up on one side is underrated. Night gyrs move like a pig, the SNS D runs at 87kph. Just personal opinion but, I dont think any other mech has helped me break 1k on most of my matches for more than my first 20 games. Its crazy!!! YMMV

Yep Sunspider has a role that differentiates it from the Night Gyr for sure. Both are good 'Mechs. Sunspider is better at mid range because of its slimmer profile and somewhat better agility. The mounts are also better placed. Night Gyr shines at longer range, and its jump jets help it reach ideal sniping positions.

They aren't that high unless you are only using the arms at which point you are sacrificing some tonnage unnecessarily, and you can run better mounts with similar weapons on a mech almost 2/3s its weight, and get a JJ or two in there (I refer to the HBK-IIC).

Who cares when you are dakka, if you are shooting n scooting you are better off leveraging less heat efficient weapons to make the most of your heat (or running as much dakka as possible). Maybe it just has to do with the competition I normally face, but I do way better running 3 ERPPCs or 2 LPL/6 ERML than I do with 4 UAC2s or 3 UAC5s on this mech even after the patch. Could just be playstyles but imo even with the laser vomit I get punished in the CT more than I would other mechs.

Maybe I am weird? 33 games played now, 30.8k damage. The sample size is getting larger and I am averaging crazy damage, Im not even tier 1 again yet after reset but surely averaging near1k damage is solid as hell. the HBKIIC is slow and made of glass. For 20 tons more this mech runs at 87kph with more armor and ammo and absolutely stomps.

This is my new favorite mech by far!

I've been running one with 2x5+10 for a while. Goes alright. Little light on ammo, but if you pick your shots and stay mid range it'll do 1000. Or die. One of those.

Is it great? Not really. There's better platforms. It's good practise for medium calibre dakka aiming and fairly consistent though.

Good quirks and ECM make a good mech. I wish that the mech had some ammo quirks sometimes i run out a little early.

I run this with uac20 uac10. Can recommend this to anyone! 2 tons uac10 ammo 4.5 uac20.

Just wish it had some (at least weak) ammo quirks!

One sign of good quirks is how i manage to overheat using just these two autocannons.

I wonder if the 4xUAC2 SNS-D will have longevity or will it be a fad that passes once players figure out how better to defeat it. I also wonder if it will be a thing in higher tiers.

Away from my PC at the moment bit I am looking forward to trying it out.

Good hunting,

4UAC2 Ebon Jag was already nice, but required hero pods. SNS-D is now that but with all high mounts and ECM! And it can do 5/10 builds too nicely.

2UAC10+ERPPC Jag is still very nice. Overall we've got more variety now.

4 UAC 2 just seems underwhelming on a heavy, you can do 5 on a Vapor Eagle for example.

I've played the 4UAC2 Jag a lot. It does a lot of damage. The veagle with 5 UAC2's has much worse mounts and can't sustain or carry enough ammo even without JJs. The quirks on the Jag and SNS are huge too. They have much higher dps with only 4 thanks to those.

I run this as a right-side build (with the ECM in the left torso). Strip the left arm and shave a bit from the head and a point or two from each leg and you can get to 7.5 tons of ammo (I like 3 tons of UAC10, the rest UAC20). I poke with the UAC10 and only fire the UAC20 when I am reasonably confident of landing the shot. Assuming you're aim is decent, you're only going to run out of ammo in long games, and by then you're pushing 1000+ damage. I tried it a few times before the last patch, but a UAC20 jam was just a killer. Played around last night - feels much better now, and yes, you can actually overheat before jamming.

SNS-D is an absolute monster. great mounts, good speed, ECM, fantastic quirks. The only real flaw is you'll run out of ammo quicker than you'd like.

Limited ammo prevents me from going above 1000. I do 800 at times though. 6.5 tons here.

It has an intimidation factor too. Something about the sound of dakka spam hitting mechs make some people panic and retreat. Mg seem to have that effect to stop even assaults in their tracks to do the twist and shout.

I love my D!

I like to run 2xGR with 6 tons of ammo. With both rifles mounted high and to the right, I think it's the most bang you can get for the least exposure out of cover. Coupled with ECM, it can put in lots of damage before an enemy team can even spot it. That kind of firepower moving around in the PUG at almost 90kph is sick! Sometimes that speed makes it easy to overextend if I'm not careful, but its good to know you can bug out if things get hairy in ways you just can't with slower mechs.

I'm not sold on the 4xAC/2 loadout. It's fun and it can lay in a lot of damage, but it reminds me of LRM's in that for all the damage, it feels like it takes forever to actually kill someone, and if they know how to twist, even a little, forget it.

Also, next time you run an SNS-D Appreciation Post, please consider calling it, "D's Nuts!"
