Rockets builds were the bane of many. So many troll builds would one shot assaults from the back. Last night I put a rocket 20 into the back of an extremely slow locust. Range 100 and shot placement was awesome. Shields were yellowish orange and all it did was turn it red.
What good are Rockets now if I cannot kill a locust with no armor? I agree builds that one-shot assaults is annoying. Maybe make them have little effect on shield maybe. But they should have a place that they do very well. They are just ok at best now.
It would be nice to see them become more useful since you only get one shot.

1. there are no shields in MWO
2. Rockets aren not for oneshoting anything through armor.
3. The viability of a weaponsystem is greatly dependant on how many damage you can bring to a match end table for the tonnage you invested on your mech.
That said rockets aren't realy a viable choice in any case if you are able to slot ANY other weapon or component. The slot space, potential damage output in respect to the whole match and the fact they allow for just one shot make them a liability when viewed as primary weaponsystem.
That beeing said there are situations where carrying an other heat sink, a sensor system or an other weapon that needs ammo or is an energy weapon is no option.
Why you ask? Simply because you already are driving a cool build, already having installed a sensor of that type you could mount for the given ammount of tonnage and space and or you have no free free ballistic or energy slot. Also you may lack the slots to mount light ferro or other wight savings and be able to use them.
But what you may have is free missile slot and one or two tonnes to play with.
So there you go take an other potential 20, 30, 40 potential damage into your match.

Rockets would be a bit nicer if you could fire them twice instead of once.
