At first I thought it was just me, but I heard some other people talking about it in game as well. All my matches the last couple of days have been extremely close, and the teams have felt legitimately balanced.

What sort of matches have y'all been experiencing the last few days?

In tier 2 its more or less the same feast or famine its always been. Close games while not rare are certainly not common.

Feels the same to me, but maybe they are keeping the elite groups out of the lower tiers.

Had quite a few T4 QP games that were quite close, 12-9, 12-11, etc.
Some won, some lost ;)

The Matchmaker is back ! ;)

Pugs will drag you down into a bottomless pit of death with lemming like behavior and scrub builds!

Yeah, it's not fixed at all, getting rolled is pretty normal still. I don't care about the "soup" queue, it helps with getting matches. What I want fixed is the TONNAGE BALANCING. Every roll I had in the past ten games was a very light group of twelve against a very heavy group of twelve. It's really hard to win when the enemy team has six 100 ton assaults against a team that has a 75 ton mech as its heaviest unit.

Same for me. Not perfect, but at least I climb to Tier 3 again. I heard, that it's somehow connected to group restrictions.

The Max Group restrictions in Quick Play stopped being enforced in the June 21st patch, this issue has been fixed with the July 19th patch. As of the July 19th patch, The Max Group Restrictions Variable will be exposed for future tuning. The default setting will be set back to Max 5 people in groups as of the July 19th patch. Max Group Restrictions 5 means each team can have can have:
  • one 4-player group, or
  • one 2-player and one 3-player group, or
  • two 2-player groups

Definitely better, it's not filling either side with more than the allowed number of groups. It is still a mess after about 9pm EST but that's just historically always been the case.

Just caught a match where it DID fill with more than the allowed groups. My team had a 4 man and a 2 man versus the other team with a 3 man. Curious as to why the matchmaker didn't just flip that to a 3 + 2 on the one side and a 4 on the other.

But proof that it can and does still do this when the barrel bottom is being scraped.

Well, last night I was on the losing end of a 12-0 stomp.....and a 12-2, some similar situations, in T5. Can't say I've noticed the difference in terms of outcomes, dunno about tonnage (I don't watch it closely as I'm still learning the mechs and their designations).
