Its not Battletech.

Does not feel like it fits in the game. Feels "immature" and dumb idea from corporate.

Stuff like The Road Runner "meep meep".

Can't see the purpose of it beyond agitating / gaslighting.

Yes, I hate it too. You can leave them to pilot (not warrior), who needs toys.

World of Tanks has a "turn of unhistorical skins" feature if people don't want to break immersion, PGI could add a similar feature

not even somewhat. massive speakers in use on a battlemech in combat are in fact totally accurate to the lore. the highlander hero Heavy Metal has them for a reason.

for those that don't like the way warhorns work, I will suggest that they try the Fool's Warhorn instead, which has different functionality.

Now might be a bad time to mention that it would be a fantastic April Fools event to push a new sound file out in an update that adds the "parrot squawk" sound to the end of every warhorn. Just for a week.

Alternatively: Black Watch fan! They did the bagpipes thing too!

(Though at least the Northwind Highlanders have their insignia in the game. And, y'know, still exist, even as of ilClan Era.)
