For Solaris events, it sounds like they need adjusted like they were in Solaris, but I think even the baseline weapon design should be looked at. More damage, less heat? I've never really used them because they require to you face-hug your opponent and then they don't do much damage so I'd rather take a medium laser instead.

I've always thought flamers should combo with machine guns, to increase mg dmg.
IE, the flamers heat up the metal, making it softer, for mgs to penetrate.

If you can apply that much heat that metal would start getting softer pilot would boil to death way before, ammo explosions, electronic failures etc.

By the same logic, every blacksmith would spontaneously combust when hammering a sword.

Are those blacksmiths inside that sword they are forging?
They are certainly in closer proximity than an atlas cockpit is from it's CT.
We already see the metal glow red hot from lasers, and pilots don't boil to death.
What a silly thing to argue.

thats not the only thing that doesnt make sense. head shots. they only work if you know which specific cockpit window to shoot. technically if you put a round into any of the windows (which are going to be a transparent type of armor like what is used on tanks), its going to send a jet of molten metal to splatter anything and everything in the cockpit.
as for the flamers, the armor is pretty thick, so there is a lot of thermal mass. making that glow red hot would probibly take more time than the flamer can be operated without exploding.
