It doesn't matter how much you capture points you still go down in player rating if you don't do enough damage. You also get far fewer exp and C-bills than if you do even a small amount of damage. This makes being in a light mech very unrewarding. You get more rewards and player skill rating even if you lose the match as long as you do damage.

I know others have posted relentlessly on the matter and yes I'm bringing it up AGAIN because it is still very much a broken game mode and it needs more attention.

You do not have to cap every single enemy base.

You just have to make sure that your team does not lose on points. That is all.

After you ensure that, you can return to fight enemy 'Mechs.

Sure, but it's still better not to do that, rewards wise. You're better off losing the match to caps and doing damage because you'll get more points and stand a much better chance of going up in skill rating.

That is why you should both cap and fight to help your team win the game in the first place.

Note that both me and the Locust guy spent the same time capping and countercapping bases around the map.

But I returned to help my team in combat. So I added four kills, some damage and assists, flanked a bit, protected friendly 'Mechs - you know, usual stuff. The Locust guy, not so much.

All these combat activities help both your team to win the game (and thus your hopes of getting the victory bonus) and you personally to get a good Match Score and thus hopefully the green arrow of the PSR boost.

In the end, I got 434,213 and 2,235 XP which I believe is not so bad.

But of course, you do not have to heed my advice. I am just telling how I do it, if I have the opportunity.

I agree, that's my whole point. A light has to considerably out perform to break even. Then again, I guess, a light's job is generally supposed to be more difficult. Maybe it's working as intended and the real problem is such a low player base that we can't select our preferred game mode. OR maybe the points granted from capturing should be considerably increased. How would an increase make the mode less enjoyable or break it?

ALmost every mode ends in a skirmish like defeat anyway very rarely do you see teams in coquest win by points alone, Domination isn't even an exception to this the enemy team is usually all dead before either counter reaches zero. the ONly mode that people win on caps is Assault when the lucky INcubus-2(I think) or a spider5d with it's cap accel quirks jump on a base.

Okay, well, while I agree with this, how does it help fix Conquest? In my opinion, it is the most broke.

You can also solo the entire enemy base in the incursion game mode win and loose rating, silly imho but it is what it is.

I have to agree with OP, played a match rolling an osiris, it was super cool caping at every opportunity and even killed a careless archer, and what did I get for it? Measly 80k CBs?

Light's performance should follow a different standard than those of the heavier mechs I'd say....not sure how that would work though...

Do you have the screenshot of that game? My Conquest games usually pay better.

If playing a light 'Mech in Conquest, do not just circle around the map. Help your team with dealing the damage and with killing the enemy 'Mechs.
