honestly i prefer a closer match to a stomp, give me that fight that swings both ways the whole way through any day. i find nothing more enjoyable than a match that ends with two badly damaged mechs slugging it out with whatever they have left.

as for cover scouting and all that it sure as hell does matter. a single good scout with a competent LRM bout can devastate an enemy force. (hell or anyone just pressing the R key). yeah you might be able to see an enemy mech from 1k out but you have no idea how damaged it is or where if you can't get the red box on em. you have to use the terrain to your advantage eithing simply blocking LoS or using it to soak up incoming LRM fire.

all in all MWO is a very complex game when you compare it to other shooters. not only do you have a decent selection of weapon systems but also all the support equipment like ECM, AMS, JJ, MASC, TAG, NARC, TCs, Active Probes and not to mention the consumables. there is a LOT to take in and many play styles to explore. most mechs can be configured in vast number of combination (some more effective than others but most can be viable if you play em right)

(as for WoT i always sort of hated that game if i am going to play something like it i would much rather play War Thunder, where the damage is more realistic instead of just health bars)

Actively avoiding imminent death is actively playing the game, whether you like it or not.

Shutting Down your ‘Mech or avoiding engagements with the enemy, and when doing so might be considered non-participation
  • Presenting on opportunity for staging an ambush
  • Evading detection long enough to secure a win through Conquest points
  • Evading detection long enough to secure a timer expiration win when you have superior numbers, in circumstances where you may be too critically damaged to otherwise risk a direct engagement with the enemy
The above situations are considered to be within the scope of what the shutdown mechanic or evasion tactics are intended to be used for.
There are situations that do not fall within the scope of what the shutdown mechanic or evasion tactics are intended for. The use of the shutdown mechanic or avoiding contact with the enemy under the following situations may be classed as an act of non-participation, subject to evaluation and moderation actions by Support services:
  • Running out the clock, or needlessly extending the duration of the match, in cases where doing so will not assist you towards victory.

Then go ahead and report it if it makes you feel better about your life.
If it's 1v11, how do you prove I'm not "staging an ambush"? Do you think I should run into the middle of them and die to make you feel better about getting hosed in under 4 minutes? How do you prove my intent?

I have been suspended multiple times, but never for nonpartisan.

It really is, but I still see people doing it in the game from time to time.

Is non-parcip a real problem in the game? I rarely see intentional instances.

How do you police it?
If you get 6 reds chasing your last guy, how do you know he's not trying to spread them out to try to get a kill or two?
How do you know intent?
Being mad cuz bad doesn't give you authority to dictate when and where anyone else should die.

Sure, send the report to their spam folder if it makes you feel better.
I'm sure they'll be quick to alienate customers because you got outplayed.

I would think that kind of time investment would be better spent improving your own game, but you do you.

Nah. The mech I want to play is locked to the match. You're getting recorded.

It's unlikely I'll see you in game, but I'll look for you.
If I see you, I'll give you special attention. <3

One cannot prove or disprove intent, only actions and their results
  • If for the remainder of the match you make no attempt to engage
  • If you stand still and shut down in some obscure corner of the map

I reported a guy today whose pilot name was "Trollkid" or something like that. He disconnected at the beginning of the match, and I presumed his bad intent from his name. But I think he must have logged in later because he had non-zero damage. So, sorry, Trollkid, but you might want to change your name.

Sometimes that happens when the game client is loading the game assets.

I drop exclusively solo in QP. FP is a joke from the original intent. The problem is the population of MWO has shrunk so much that the MM does not know what do to. Just today I dropped against a full lance of experienced players some of which I have known for years in 3 assaults and a medium, and the match was over in 3 minutes, they had 9 of the kills. I think the MM has to work so hard to find people that is just throws folks together and says F it.

With some effort and with some luck, you can be successful even against a 4-man premade ...

... while ending the game with the green arrow and with the good payout.

However, those solos must work as a team. So no running from the battle to "flank", i.e. circle around the map, while the team is fighting for their lives. No running away from the battle to play "sniper", i.e. hide in the corner of the map, etc.

Only then the solos can win.
