Hits Not Registering

Is anyone else having a problem with hits registering. For example I had a game where I was using ppc's and ac20's, I felt like I shot a lot of people and had a pretty good game. I lasted all game with just a little ammo left at the end and only did a bit over 200 damage. I was in the the battle most of the game. Normally this would easily be over a 500 damage game and often a 7 to 800 damage game.

If you have a recording we could check it for signs of packet loss. I used to have packet loss eat my shots fairly often and with a recording it was fairly obvious that is what was happening to me.

I carry 3 tons so 30 shots. I had maybe 4 to 6 shots left that round. less than 10 for sure. My my optimum range is 310 on the sunb ppcs and 20's. i keep really close to that.

I have played this game almost since it started and have noticed this problem for a while. It doesn't happen all the time just seems like it has gotten worse the last few months.

I do not record my game play.

Hit reg in this game can be very wonky. was just in a drop, spectating a friendly and an enemy PIR took 4 c-ERPPCs at point blank range without taking any damage

Sometimes its just not in the cards







While I agree Hit Reg from time to time can be wonky, it is by no means any where near as prevalent as mechwarriors make it out to be.


Once the video was slowed down the shot goes through the smoke and through the hole created between the arm and the side.

Yes.. it went past his waist and between his arm.

I have seen it go through mechs though, Commandos were notorious for it for years.

Speaking only for myself, I find a lot of times that when this happens, especially these days with shorter range weapons (especially on bigger and slower mechs), like AC20/SPPCs, and MPLs, it is often the case where I have been firing all match and feel like I should have good numbers only to see I did squat, that the reason for my failure is not that hit reg was off, but I that I was consistently firing at targets beyond optimal range.

I had the same problem with my Spider sniper. I was firing almost continuously for the entire match. At the end, it said I did about 220 damage. I was mad and then realized that most of my shots were past optimal range. Still manage to distract and/or push mechs into hiding, but I wasn't happy with it. Oh well.

Spectator view is well known to be inaccurate.

It is, thats why I rely on the reticle turning colors when spectating. and the reticle was turning colors registering hits on the PIR, but the shots did no damage at all to it

Hit reg just plain gets weird from time to time. It seems to get worse the more objects are in a small area, so my SRM36 splatdog often registers less than half an alpha sometimes... Or at least, it certainly feels that way.

I'll admit that I've never done serious analysis of match footage to back up that impression. Probably isn't even worth it to do so, I'm in no position to recommend or implement solutions. /shrug

I wasnt able to hit leg of legged incubus yesterday. He was before me, I legged him already. Was shooting with pair 20UAC.
It cant be helped, 20UAC not for hunting lights.

I have a DW that Alpha's over 100 with a double tap. Optimal range for the closest weapon is 500m. I alphaed a Mad Cat at 150m twice and his armor barely turned orange. Either Mad Cats have over 200 armor or it didn't register all the hits. Packet loss could be a cause but my pings are usually around 90 and speeds consistently above 25 mbps. I think it has to do with how many objects are in the air. In the last event during the Assault event and everyone was shooting rockets it was very noticeable

Last night I was killing an afk/DC mist linx..
I was shooting it's legs..I didn't move my mouse.
On both legs, 1 hit failed to register a hit on each, on this stationary mech.

AFK/DC Mechs have wonky hitboxes esp if he was moving when he DC`ed

It has always been the case that AC/20 and PPC projectiles sometimes pass through targets without doing anything.

I don't follow the weapons changes. But does it happen more on weapons which have received velocity changes over the last year ?
