Asked this on reddit but figured I'd ask here to. If you are the last one alive on your team and the enemy is just a disco or out of ammo or you can sit under min range, do you just try to end the match or sit there and farm damage.

I've had matches where I've been in the situation and some call to farm like in this? But do you, or just end the match?

End it. Farming discos just seems gratuitous. Better to end it and free everyone up for the next match, especially if they are grinding the mech they used in that match.

id strip them for every point they are worth, grind being what it is. id melt away every last ton of armor, get the structure cherry red, and remove as many components in the order that allows me to deliver the most agony.

granted this kind of thing seldom happens anymore. in the early days of mwo it wasnt uncommon to have the entire enemy team, and most of yours, drop. but i only saw that happen once, and not completely. as i had a couple players and the enemy had a couple players. everybody farmed though.

if it was just one, id probibly do the thing that ended fastest, if i was nearer the disco than the objective, im going for the disco.

Farming discos is risky, and there's no real reward. I've killed a handful of lights over the years by reconnecting while they were trying to farm. Nothing against killing discos, just get it over with.

That video though- under running a LRM boat when that's all that's left? Go nuts farming. Punish them for their sins. Can be risky- I've seen people stuff up and let an ATM boat JJ out of minimum range, or forgotten LRMs still do some damage close, but I'd.consider this situation fair game.

compared to some of the things people do to pad their score, i think its possibly the least offensive.

using cheats.
gerrymandering queues to farm at the total detriment of the game.
scats that run down the game clock to pad their stats.
lights that shut down and hide to preserve kdr.
farming discos is pretty far down the list.

its nice to have high ideals, but when a pile of cash is sitting in front of you for the taking humans have this tendency to let greed get the better of them. especially considering that the time to dismember the thing is less than the time it takes to get back to where you can launch another match, and your mech will be ready to go.

The exception is Omega gauss fafnir hiding guy.

Every single time I've found him with crit gauss but still alive I've farmed them as slow as possible.

lurm/hppc boat without backup weapons and you are within min range... slice and dice.

That wasn't farming. That was finishing off two live enemies, one under minimum range and one out of ammo. In both cases, you end them as fast as reasonably possible, and you did. Not doing so would let the minuscule damage from under-range clan LRMs or perhaps ramming damage from the Arctic Wolf add up.

If a match does come down to a single enemy left who is disconnected, nobody is going to fault you for picking off both arms, one leg, and then starting on side torsos. Match score is king.

You never let threats to your team survive longer than necessary. Kill all the armed opponents as quick as possible especially those in their optimal range, and then the mostly disarmed enemies.

As for discos or disarmed slowpokes, I don't encourage farming but I understand some might do it for the C-Bills, XP, or achievements. Just do what you want, the difference is honestly negligible (about 10 to 15 seconds in my experience).

you have to understand that pokemechs is the only reason i still play at this point, that requires cbills, lots and lots of cbills. ive burned through hundreds of millions thanks to that infernal skill tree redux that wasnt neccisary. perhaps that was the point.

If it's during a match, rear CT is usually the best because they might just be afk and wake up when you start hitting them (has happened to me). If it's end of match and a disco all match, my preference is to try to headshot them, just to bump up that achievement count. Technically, you get the most salvage from that too, but no one cares about that. Farming damage probably generates more cbills actually.

End it. That is more honourable than farming DCs. Apart from the fact that attack DCs is dishonourable on it's own of course...

So, yeah... It is up to everyone's own sense of honour. Who lacks honour would not act chivalrious ingame.

Farm if they're an LRM boat, ATMs or Streaker. If they're playing something else then just finish them off.
