Please do a rescale at some point, the sizes are way too large.

Urbanmech IIC.

Leave Solaris Map and turn it into a 12vs12 quickplay map.

I'm ok with Legends mechs (they have to make money some way guys/gals).

What happened to Mechbay packs.

Decals great idea.

Weapons great idea.

Will there be Special mechs in the new redone mech packs?

MWO 2.0 With MW5 engine and assets.

DO NOT MAKE LEGEND 'MECHS SUPERIOR!

Remember the tire fire* that MC-bought consumables kicked off? I'll happily pay for 'mech packs that are interesting (I still do not regret the Overlord package, even though the Battlemaster remains a disappointment.) Players need to be able to compete, and if they see the best 'mechs gated behind a paywall, it will hurt their willingness to drop against those 'mechs. And speaking for myself, and my feel of the community in general, existing MWO players don't want that either. Already, there's been some power creep in a few chassis: a common optimized Dire Wolf build requires the Ultraviolet's omnipods, the Pakhet has been called out for enabling significantly more powerful Huntsman builds, and the Crael is just obnoxious right now. Let us compete, and we'll pay you to have fun; if players feel like they're paying to have fun, though...

Or, have them fire on the existing gauss charge mechanic, but fire a burst instead of a single shot. You'll have to pardon my potential ignorance though, I don't know enough about them to know what the firing pattern is meant to look like (burst like an UAC or continuous like a RAC)

Above two titles are far too close, may well result in a lawsuit that EG7/Piranha/MWO may well lose (especially since MechWarrior: Living Legends is already a registered trademark).

MWLL is a fan project mod for other games. While MWLL2 is now developed as a standalone, afaik it is not licensed by Microsoft in the first place, who holds the rights to the MechWarrior IP. So if there was any lawsuit, I am very sure the MWLL team instead would get shot down for calling their game MechWarrior without having the rights to it.

P.S.: I can't find any trademark for the name "Living Legends" either, so this should really not be an issue at least for MWO and PGI.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure as soon as MS gets involved, MWLL will get curbstomped. For that matter, that's the rumor of what happened to the original MWLL dev team back in 2012: PGI sent them a Cease-and-Desist letter that simultaneously gagged them, and they were forced to abandon ship with no explanation. (Naturally the lack of official explanation leaves this as a conspiracy theory, but one that fits the facts as we know them).

My recollection is that PGI took a popularity hit by one or two points over that, based mostly on the rumor/conspiracy theory, even though I suspect any direct action taken would have been in the interests of shutting down the competition so that they'd be the only game in town and everybody would come to them.

That said, that same popularity poll will raise its same ugly head if MWO tries to brand itself too similarly to MWLL. There's still a lot of sentiment that MWLL did the gameplay aspects much better than MWO (and they did), they just lost out to artwork, lore-accurate builds, customization, and being officially kicked to the curb so that MWO would be the only game in town for awhile.

I want that as a wallpaper. I want that as a game.

Borrowed art + my super professional MS Paint skills. If you want that art I just searched MW5 title screen, I'm sure there's a render without their menu floating about.

I just honestly don't understand why it is they are dead set in this belief that PvP needs to be boiled down to completely boring deathmatch only, or that they'd need to build an entirely new game to accomplish a successor. Their MW5 core code allows for 4 live players to play against 4-12+ (potentially upwards of a hundred or more if you go with some of those super trash mob spawn missions) enemy entities. Yes I'm sure there would be challenges upscaling it to all or mostly all live players, but the base of it all is already built - and YAML already implement a for the most part better mechlab. (I do like the sized hard point system, but the rest of it is too dumbed down, and without some loadout modifications some mechs are just completely useless).

They also massively expanded their mechpack ability by creating tank level vehicles to expand on and a system for flying vehicles and mechs. - as well as the ability to create some actually interesting story arc campaigns running from infantry through those and into battlemechs. Which imo is one spot they failed/fell way short on with their dlcs being more built like mechpacks than new campaigns - they just couldn't think outside of the model they sold for a decade.

How much fun would some missions of dropping in vtols or tanks and trying to take out the other small units while mech battles rage around you be? Lead up to the challenge of actually dropping a mech then salvaging it to begin your journey as a mech pilot? There's so much opportunity to tell a wide variety of stories in the system they built from what I mentioned to house conflicts (that you merc for) to inter-house conflicts. When you see that potential wasted on short missions built to be more or less mechpack sales it's kind of disappointing that they haven't been able to choose to move on from that model.

I would most like to see the Stone Rhino/Behemoth as it checks a few boxes.

-Its Clan
-Its NOT an Omnimech (Sorry I like changing engines)
-Its weapon layout would be fun

Automatically generated maps? Nope. I need properly desinged ones. By human.

Personally I'd prefer almost any of the non-campaign/dlc maps to any of the MWO maps. Even the majority of the campaign maps are far better than what we have here.

There's much that can be done with comparatively little effort to spice things up. What's really needed is more variation and unpredictability.

* There's a decent number of maps, but Domination and Conquest (the only interesting game modes) mostly play the same because the cap points are always in the same place. Surely it would be possible without too much effort to make 5-10 variations of domination location/cap points/drop points per existing map with very little effort to spice things up and make each drop more unpredictable? Some of the maps are very large and contain cool spots but 75% of the space on the maps is never seen/used.

* More maps, there are a lot of unused ones from Solaris that surely could be reused? I doubt anyone cares if the assets are the same.

* Some maps need the drop points moved closer to the action (polar highlands...)

I really like MWO and would pay a monthly fee to support it, even if it just included some guaranteed Cbills every month or something.

It would be super cool with a MWO2 on a better engine, but the feeling in MW5 just isn't it. Everything feels floaty and weightless (like many other unreal games). Even the LRMs lack punch, whereas in MWO they're cool. You want to feel like it's a huge problem coming at you when the LRMs are incoming or that it's a huge chunk of metal flying at you with an AC shot, and MW5 lacks that entirely. Also dislike that everything is blinking all the time and the overuse of shader effects.

Mechwarrior Online: Jihad or Mechwarrior Online: War of Blake might fit.

think big castles, defensive walls, large hangars, big shops, pilots, openable doors, windows, emojis, soundcast supported player,
collapsed buildings, new maps desert, underwater submarines fishes big small decors everglade traps, real night, headlight lights,a grand canyon shattered mechs when dropped, pilot damage

A lot can be done to make this game tempting to make it realistic
it all depends on you and your effort. :)

And much of the word salad you're tossing out is pure wishful thinking that in reality is either out of scope or too demanding for PGI to even attempt developing. Brand new biomes will take much longer than recycling existing assets to produce new maps. MWO is a shooter, not a MMO, and some things that would be more immersive for the latter (eg pilot damage) would be either bad design or simply feelbad mechanics for the former (we've been there - Repair & Rearm, anyone?).

Legendary mech idea:
Catapult with ballistics in its arms

Sure the K2 has ballistics in the torsos and are technically better due to hitboxes and such but dual gauss rifles in the arms would be sooo coool

Also give us the ability to give that mech a name that is displayed in-game.

Something I have never understood in MWO is that you can give your mech a nickname, but that nickname doesn't show up anywhere during a drop/match ?! Posted Image

As far as I can tell there is zero difference between high/low any tier. I'm most of the way back through tier 4 and regularly pull matches full of t5 skill level players. Those matches just aren't fun for me, or I'm sure for them when I put up 1k+ damage and pull 4 solo kills in a brawling medium mech.

How can you be sure which Tier each player had when the game doesn't show it anywhere ?!

Also the whole PSR and Tier thing is useless : I am stuck in Tier 3 and Tier 4 because 95% of the teams I am in are total DERPS so the game be like "No higher PSR for you! Your TEAM lost!" Posted Image

Wait, these "legend" 'mechs are built by the Cauldron?! Hell no!!! Firstly, you've seen how the Champion mechs that were built around the meta of the time have aged over the years. Secondly, this game has been faithful to the record sheets and the lore over the years, and this is no time to break with that tradition. I have very little faith or trust in this "Cauldron" to be true to the spirit of MechWarrior, as they have demonstrated repeatedly since they took control.

IMHO the only thing the Cauldron did was converted MWO into Camping Sniper Warrior and by that I mean even more than it already was!

For example : It's a total P.I.T.A. to play a SRM mech at the moment!

One important thing no one talks bout. The whole News are worth ## if they dont manage to bring fresh blood to MWO aka new Players.
Who ever made the Academy.: Sit in a Mech of your choice go in the Academy, then head after to the Active Combat Zone and tell us that you wouldnt be annoyed as hell, after you died in a Lurm spam with hearing the 10th incomming missile warning in 5seconds.
Dont forget you are a brand new Player. You have no Idea bout the Weapon systems/equipment and what exactly it does. no one tells you that you have to shoot down the UAV to avoid LRM´s
.To expect that every in MWO interested new Person has to watch hours of YT Vids before coming here is just #####

Whatever announcments you make they are worth nothing wothout bringing MORE NEW PLAYERS to MWO if you want to have a better mm or making money

HEAR HEAR !!!

New Players + Educate the current players so they actually know how to play !!!

Current issues :
- Spread out team that gets stomped!
- Not enough Spotting!
- Scanning : What's that ?!
- Scan what you are shooting!
- Crappy Loadouts... CRAPPY LOADOUTS EVERYWHERE!!!
- Pop an UAV or use Artillery when needed!
- And MANY MORE!!!

Horrible! Just plain HORRIBLE!!! Posted Image

Otherwise, yeah, I agree with the entire sentiment that the whole idea of chokepoint attack is overall bad strategy, and whoever planned the op should be demoted at least, and shot at worst. Any competent commander would have found a different way to attack the ground facility without sending equal numbers through a choke point. (Conventional wisdom in the books is that you need a 3:1 numbers advantage to even consider attacking a fortified ground emplacement, and here we are going through a choke point at 1:1).

That's because we have ZERO jets or tanks/artillery options we could use for such tactics!

A buddy of mine loved flying around in Battlefield 2 so if we had jets in MWO then there is a pretty good chance he would play this game too! Posted Image

Quote

The other thing that I would want to see, which makes more strategic sense, and changes up the gameplay quite a bit, is instead of an aerodyne dropship hovering over the drop zone (don't think aerodynes could ever hover), you have a spheroid drop ship (probably a Union, since we've got 12-man teams) that grounds at the drop zone, and provides a permanent defensive structure (and a potential target for shortening up foregone conclusions) to minimize spawn camping. Any and all respawns happen inside the Union, hits to the union's engines count for 1.5x damage, the Union can shoot back with the full arsenal typically associated with them (AC/20's, LRM's, lasers, ppcs, etc), and if a spawn-camping team can destroy the Union Dropship, they get a massive bonus and automatic win, without making the clearly outmatched team waste time playing through three more waves.

So called "BaseXrXaXpXe" is indeed a huge issue in many spawn based FPS games and your suggestion would be a very good solution! Posted Image

I'd much rather have the siege mode redesigned, so it suits you, me and wider chunk of commmunity. I'd much rather have even larger maps, base in a middle, with 360degree (lower) wall around it, caliope turrets in each corner, turret generators, smaller orbital gun batteries destructible from more angles, turrets actually around them, so attackers cant just bumrush it... Something that gives attackers more variety to approach situation, while forcing defenders into more active defense. Not just positioning behind gate and waiting for attackers to start swarming after the gate is open.

Less camping = Better game experience for all of us! Posted Image

great video, lots to chew on.

Rebranding: I would just go with "MechWarrior Online". I would guess that's what the vast majority of the community calls it already and if the legends things doesn't pan out like Solaris, the name won't need to change again.

Legendary mechs: like the idea but I'm afraid this could turn into introducing great unbalance into the game. Maybe the legend mechs could have the CBill and XP bonus together OR or a +50% CBill bonus. Maybe something new like every 10,000 damage you get 5MC? something to keep us using the legendary mech. I just recommend keeping quirks more inline with the other variants of the chassis.

I like the mini battle pass thing that would come with the legendary mechs and I really like the unlimited time to complete the pass. The only thing I would like to see for that is to add a category for the BPs so they don't live in my active events panel forever.

New weapons: YES PLEASE!!!!!!

New Mech and Hachetman cockpit items: Great, thanks PGI

New Game: that is worth it's own thread. I think Phil's conversation with Russ is a very good video to watch because it really does well to paint the picture of the challenges a MWO2 would bring. I know I'm in the camp of "I've invested into MWO and I would hate to have to do it all over again for MWO2".

New MechWarrior Project: Shut up and take my money already!!!
