Plus you'll find that indirect fire is pretty bad right now with all the ECM and Radar Deprivation. LRMs currently work much better if your plan is to use them like they're some kind of LBX Autocannon that can sometimes fire indirect.

For the most part though, and it seems you are on the track to figuring it out, no one cares about your LRM boat standing at the back firing volley after volley into buildings, rocks and walls. If you are up with the team putting rounds on targets so they are twisting and not firing back then you are doing what you should be doing and won't be standing alone.

I enjoy it sometimes. Sometimes I don't, but change is good, variety is good.
The way people play should not be criticized. I mean, 2 people are cunning and waiting and waiting, I injure the enemy, he kills 2 people. and they only give the game to get kills. I died because of him. This game is a team game.
I know how to play alone.
That's not what I mean far or near.
I might not get any kills it's okay, I'll wound, My team kills, I get points again.
The problem is that some people think they're smart.
I criticize, I write why he did it. He insults me as noobs etc. I played this game for 10 years am i a beginner?
I played this game long enough to know good team, well-intentioned people.

I can't attack from 100 yards with lrm and gaus. that would be funny.

this is the real problem.
2 people are fighting and the 3rd person is waiting.
I wouldn't die if that person didn't wait.

But not funny in a good way, I hear you.
All I can tell you is what works for me. Engage at 300-400 meters with a combination of lasers and Artemis LRMs, take indirect fire targets of opportunity as they arise. The following is my favorite mech to do it in because it has the heat management and massive armor to pull this off. I literally have over 150 hours of play time in this mech.

But if you build a mech, as you've said, with Gauss and LRM, then you won't be able to fight well at any range other than your optimum, and I personally find that to be too much of a weakness to solo drop. Perhaps group up with some random people in LFG or drop with friends, so you have 2-3 other team members who will support your position.

I'm glad to be understood.

thanks for the advice.
The 3x 20 c-lrm is pretty effective and when I have too many ammo
spare gun does not fit, this is a choice.
My thought is more than a simple rain

My prize DWF-C runs with 2xC-LRM20 +A and 4xC-ER-LL. Together they busting. Not got a red arrow since I use this build as it works on ALL maps in QP. The lack of red arrow is a problem however... PSR must not rise from fun-zone
If you run LURM-boats, stick with team and act as an artillery. Literally farm damage. LRM good for that but you MUST be within ~600m to use them well. If you have direct LOS, LRMs could (especially with Artemis) hurts much. Really.
LRMs are good and could help really a well-coordinated team. I played some FP matches where under coordination my LRM-builds scored insane amount of damage and rendered the enemies easy prey for the las-boats. Everybody won.
So, as ScrapIron mentioned, get friends, try group-drop and you would experience the vast difference in match quality! Literally.

Line of sight from the firing unit to target must be present.
?
I don't quite understand this idiom
Doesn't it lock without seeing the target?
and weight is an issue.
I know artemis is good. but in a team of 12 people, I think the target is too high.
if it doesn't lock on one target, I lock on the other target, that's fine
I'm subtracting armor for more ammunition.
margin of error.

i think thatinformation is out of date. All artemis does now is reduce missile spread, the lock on buff was removed. It says it only does this if you have line of sight to the target(no buff with indirect fire)
I don't think a lot of clan lrm boats bother with it as they fire a stream of missiles so artemis can be considered wasted tonnage and is now mostly useful with srm6's or is lrm15/20 at a push.

let's pretend
You can focus and get 2 kills.
without focus
You do 5% damage to 12 people, I think it's the same.
You will get more points in the second option.
Besides, not every opponent you encounter will be strong. %20 30 You can easily get kills.

You'd be surprised at the amount people shooting the Dire wolf and not you.
Your massive LRM load becomes a massive SRM load with almost zero time for AMS to shoot down.
Of course have some decent backup weapon to keep the pest away.
LBX's laser's and LRM's are a great combo on assault's.
