I honestly tried searching for this, but didn't see anything.

I've come back from a hiatus and see the new skill tree, however my 100's of mechs all show golden wings as if they're fully skilled but the skills aren't selected.

Can we fix this so I know what needs to be skilled back up in the lab?

What makes you think that skills aren't selected?

When you enter the "Skills" tab you probably get a message saying that some skills were re-spec'd. This is when skills get really deselected, but after that you won't see a golden wings icon. Just redistribute skills again to your liking.

Easiest way to do that for me at least was add favorite tap on mechs that I have reskilled.

when they redid the skill tree again they didnt want to do another refund pass, so they decided to keep existing skills as is whenever possible. you can drop an oldskilled mech and it will keep the skills, but if you look at the skills it will do the reset and you may have to pay to fix it. its sort of like quantum mechanics, observing it collapses the wave function.

so run them old skilled until you have enough xp to new skill it and avoid the skill tab like the plague. since they dropped the xp requirement to 500, and i find i need on average 10-15 nodes per mech to newskill them, you are looking at 5000-7500 xp to fix your mechs. also make sure you have enough cbills. also the upcoming lootbag event will probibly reward you some gsp to sidestep the costs.

I came back and have like 5k extra general skill points left even after buying new mechs and skilling a bunch of ones I never played before.

Mostly just a hassle of having to re-skill the mechs I already had skilled, but at the same time it does get rid of a lot of the more useless skills that gated the ones you wanted, probably not a great thing for the overall game balance but I guess that's not really what they were going for with the tree anyhow.

Can they simply just unflag the wings as yellow? I want to know which ones need to be evaluated and skilled back up without clicking on skills and erasing everything.

Until you enter the skill screen your mech is still elite with the nodes you had selected before the patch so in effect it will have the yellow wings until you enter the skill screen and the nodes are reset. I still have a ton of mechs that are on the old setup because I never play them anymore. I just reskill the mechs I actively play when I first pick them out.

Ok, another person where the issue is flying right over your head. I want to know which mechs are still on the old trees!

Again, I want to re-skill mechs away from the old skill trees and want to know which ones have not been done yet. Not that hard to understand.

I understand perfectly. But there isn't anything to do but skill each mech as you play it like everyone else.

i keep track of mine in my spreadsheets. but i really wish there was an icon indicating which mechs were still oldskilled.

It would've been nice, but it only matters if you're gonna play it, right? So just click on the skill menu before you take it into battle if you've not played it in a while.

It's not a great solution, but it'll work.

Again pretty easy self done solution is favorite tag mechs with new skilltree, instead people can use that same time here in this thread QQing about it or fix it by themselves.

its when you click on a mech you thought you ran before too look at its skills. and supprise! you get to re-skill your mech whether you had the xp/cbills/gsp/gxp/whatever or not. i mean it doesnt warn you or anything and you cant undo it. it would be nice if you have to save before it takes effect but nope, you collapsed the wave function. and now you have to run it because you cant have any unmastered mechs in your inventory.

unless you need your favorites for other things:

fp alternates because you are too cheap to buy decks
mechs you are currently working on leveling
underused mechs you want to put games on
your metamechs uncorrupted by trash mechs (except urbies of course).
stupid builds for eq.

The reskill cost is pretty negligible though. The refunded skill points from the deallocated nodes generally almost-to-fully compensate for the new unlocks you want now that you don't need the filler nodes that got deallocated. You can haul an 86/91 mech or whatever into battle and do the full skilling after one victory, even if you had no banked XP at all.

Which is pretty unlikely, between the gradual GXP accumulation and the GSP that gets thrown at you in events and just any banked XP from actually playing the mech after you got it to 91. Like, c'mon. The hardship here's pretty minimal.

at some point you got to stop making excuses for them and call 'em out for their lack of forethought. frankly id rather they left the skill tree alone, then i would still have 800 million cbills instead of 150 million.

i have no problem leaving oldskilled mechs alone, i just wish i didnt need to keep DETAILED SPREADSHEETS to do so.

Well yeah those are also other options to use favorites.

other way which takes way longer time is just add something to unskilled mechs or skilled mechs name like capital S or US in the beginning of mechs name.

I still don't quite get the uproar though. Yeah you can't at a glance tell which mech has the old elite tree but you are only going to worry about the skill tree of mechs you actively play and its just a matter of a minute or so to pop into the skill tree and rearrange it then its done forever. Every single mech I actively play has its skill tree redone to the new standard and all I had to do was check before I first played them after the patch.

Its not about the tendies you regards, its about being able to know which mech has been updated or not. I'm not a whale but have almost 300 mechs and I want to know which I need to redo.

I KNOW ALL OF MY MECHS HAVE GOLD WINGS, ITS NOT ABOUT THE CBILLS, i Have plenty to spare!

I want to know which mechs I need to reskill with new tree and which I don't.

If you say anything about just re-earn xp or cbills or anything like that you seriously lack comprehension.

So you look at the skill tree every single time you play a mech?
