Well played, MinovskyECM, I watched you kill the last 4.

p.s. I'm stealing your Roughneck build...

There is a separate (and long-running) forum thread for Ace of Spade achievements here!
https://mwomercs.com...ds/page__st__40

==================
Ace of Spades is quite an achievement, and I wish I was there to watch it unfold!

1) What was the Roughneck build, very interested in knowing this!

2) I had AOS twice with my MAD-6S last year, but no luck after that...
(And those were the only 2x AOS I've ever had).

Having great difficulty achieving AOS with my favorite mech DWF-A(P), since assault mechs like this always get targeted first.
Guess it comes with the territory ;)

I'm still working on the AoS title. So far my best is a couple of matches where I got 5 kills in one match. Got the bridesmaid already-I wear that title with pride, Most damage of the whole team with no kills LOL. It was a little over 1100 damage. Did it with my MAD-IIC-Scorch. 4xSRM6 and 2xLBX20. Completely out of ammo at the end.

I also have the Bad Company title, pretty proud of that one too!

I'm still working on the Ace of Spades title, I will wear it till I die if I ever get it. BIG MOTORHEAD FAN!

Ok well thanks for reading my rambling. Big BattleTech fan here.

Edit: Also curious about the Roughneck build!

I've managed Ace exactly once. Felt *incredible*: game ended 11 - 12, last-manning it against a bunch of Arctic Wolves. :)

There's a lot of luck involved -- your team needs to be doing enough damage that you don't get rolled, but not enough to capture the kills, and you need to be in the right places at the right times.

yes, there is luck involved, but imo it has to do more with match-composition:
the best chance to have an ace of spades is when there's enough people playing it very passively on BOTH sides, and in consequence also people lacking who perform - or wanting to perform.

last one I had was in a polar-match which ended 12:11, where I "had" to get 9 by myself in a "halfed" hellbringer over the course of what seemed to be an eternity (read: nobody else seemed to want the kills).

you get the above condititons the most in t5-t4 matches, which I guess is a reason for all those 2nd/3rd-accounts popping up.
they're worth exactly that, but that's besides the point for those who do it I guess.

TLDR:
don't play to get an AOS, just play and try to play well. it will fall into your lap sooner or later if you're learning/improving with enough matches and time. and if it doesn't: don't sweat it. it's not worth anything, and also doesn't tell a story about how good you are, really.

Actually it can be worth a lot. you might not get some uber pay out/title/ultra rare mech but you do have the pride and satisfaction of really earning that first aos especially as power creep gets higher and higher. I did it with the lct-1e spl build. you better believe I take a lot of pride in that. After that first aos it just gets easier since you have the title now and can run the most out of a mech build combo to get aos again.

depends on the situation I guess.
yes, you can see that as carrying hard and playing well - and to a point it definitely is I guess.

otoh, I can take very little pride in "no competition in the team, so I get all the kills".
but ymmv, and if you played well, no argument there that you can/should enjoy it.

just here sayin' that an AOS isn't something that says you're automatically good at this, or that you aren't cause you haven't had one, yet, as the AOS depends so very much on team-compositionS.

i was pretty proud when i got mine. i attribute it to idle team, idle enemy where everyone focused on survival. i figured it for a lame attrition match in the first few minutes. the enemy had strung out in wide firing line where there were only 1 or 2 mechs i could attack at a time in isolation, as i swepped through the flank and they fell one by one in what i can only describe as heat management zen (with 4x cerppcs and some srm6es). team normally pushes in when there is a significant numbers advantage, even on a passive team, but i guess they were too slow, i was droppin' mechs. i bagged 9.

but if i got liquid metal or the first headshot cheevo, im probibly switching to it because those can be harder. especially the former in an lfe and clan mech world. i was at 96 headshots as of yesterday.

My favorite one was kill stealing with a rampaging mpulse blackjack, think they dropped most of it's silly quirks though. Got close with a small micro vomit nova recently, outranged by lrms on the 8th.

hey if you cant put down the mech you damage pumped, then just be happy you got the kmdd. if you didn't even get that, well then, it was never your kill in the first place. there is no shame in being a damage specialist either. if you pound a mech cherry, get enough damage to get that sweet kmdd and maybe a component or two and then overheat, you are going to get more points overall than the guy who sprayed it with machine guns for the kill. that squirrel is a team player for potentially saving you from a brutal reprisal. and you helped that squirrel and your team win the game.

There should be a counterpart to spades and death star for getting that many kmds.

i never really liked cheevo systems. they seem like a populist mechanic, only done because everyone else is doing them.
