I've just bought 150+ Coolshot, 100+ Airstrike, 100+ Artillery Strike, 150+ UAV, and it was a pain to buy these 10x at a time!
Please please please

I'm a bit stingy and always try to stack up on sale items; having to buy consumables ten at a time over and over is a massive PITA, honestly.
Changing this to 99 max (to fit in the current double digit counter), or no max, seems like an easy but worthwhile quality of life improvement for MWO.

That's nice, but most players use 3-4 cons per match. That's 120k or 160k cb per match, so we basically save 60k-80k worth of cb every match, and that's why most of us stock up while they're on sale.
+1 to the topic

I play roughly 100 matches per month, give or take.
I nearly always use 2 coolshots per match, so lets extrapolate this as around 180 coolshots per month
180 coolshots at 40k cbills per unit costs 7.2M cbills
At 50% off, you're saving 3.6M cbills
Now if I purchased a year's supply of coolshots at 50% off, I'd effectively be saving 43.2M cbills
43.2M cbills could buy me 1728 skill points
43.2M cbills could buy me 4 dire wolves
43.2M cbills could buy me 27 urban mechs
While I'm not incapable of earning enough cbills to buy ANY of these things, it makes plain sense that buying something that I use nearly constantly at a 50% discount will eventually stack to significant savings. If I could buy 1000 coolshots in a few clicks I most certainly would
But until that day comes (not holding my breath), autoclicker ftw

Maybe T5 (mostly new players?) don't use them because they cannot afford to use them.
And how do you know if other people in T5 uses coolshots or not?

An overgeneralization on my part, but they are certainly used less than in T1 matches I have watched. You are correct that beginners sure can't afford it, or at least would be losing money if they maximized using them. As to the coolshots, I can't really tell except I have seen a lot of overheating mechs.

Also make consumables occupy a crit slot per item, even if they don't take tonnage they should be balanced into the game with slot occupancy.

They are already balanced by cost, skill tree points to make them somewhat useful and are pretty damn nerfed to ground compared to how good they were 4-5 Years ago.
Here is example of arty 2019.

They shouldn't cost anything but the initial equipment purchase imo, but either way it's an equipment/charge that you use it should be built into your loadout.
