Hello All,
I just have a quick few points to bring up. Its about cheaters/hackers.
This may be a sensitive discussion for the game but it is hard to find information on what is done when you actually click report on a player.
I have been long time player of MWO and loved most of my time here... but just recently I feel I have experienced a cheater/hacker. It has reduced my enjoyment for the game as I try to reach the highest pilot skill level to play with the best. I played several games with this player on my team and as an opponent trying to spectate or "catch in the act" to make it obvious.
Must I become a streamer or record my gameplay to submit my evidence to a committee for review?
What is done when I submit my report at end of game screen against this player? Do you people actually look at gameplay footage ?
"IF" my accusations are true will I be notified that I successfully identified a cheater/hacker?
Will this players name be posted? So to shame them and let community know cheating/hacking will not be tolerated?
I do not wish to play with or against this person until there is some verification that my accusations are true or false? If I leave game will I be banned?
Add a kill cam to game ?
Can I be banned for calling said person a cheater in game? This was said by cheater to reduce my voice against them.
I hope the community or someone from PGI can direct or inform me to the answers to some of my questions. It may decide whether or not I continue to contribute to MWO and play the game.
Thank you for your time.
FoPhoenix

Edit: Looks like Lockheed beat me to it so see above.
First off, discussion of cheating and moderation of same is against the forum terms of service so...in before lock. As to you questions:
No. But video evidence submitted to PGI is the best way to support your accusation and get the "cheater" banned.
Often nothing, but if you have video proof then perhaps something (Ban or discipline). Apparently.
No.
Maybe, doubtful. Name and shame is strictly prohibited by the COC so I don't think PGI will do that, though once, long ago when they did a ban wave they did indeed post the names of those banned, so who knows?
Not a question. If you leave games repeatedly you will build up your time out period. It is possible if you do this enough and enough people complain, you could be banned.
What?
I have on occasion talked a lot of Shi7 in game and never been banned for it...that being said you might be given a significant time out from the game if you do that in these forums. In game, rather than calling folks a cheater just use the report function and move on.

Basically; video or it didn't happen.
Oh and you can be moderated for continual hackusations in game.

If you have a newer Nvidia card you can screen record with GeForce Experience. Alternatively you can use the windows screen record from the Game Bar/Xbox App but sometimes it will end up recording your desktop instead of the game so it is less reliable. Regardless as the others said there are a whole lot of 'no's to your other questions. Best thing to do is report and get evidence or maybe throw a clip onto the subreddit if you really want to.

ive been watching goat vs tarkov on youtube. apparently cheating to uncover other cheaters. i dont play tarkov and it doesnt really have anything to do with mwo. but its been somewhat amusing and has revealed aspects of cheater culture that i didn't even know was a thing. apparently they have their own communities, their own forums, their own discord, and the cheat softwares have stronger drm than the games do. they also ban people for talking about cheat club. with that in mind perhaps a forum policy where staying quiet about cheating is actually good for cheating. we should open this up so cheaters will get banned from cheat software by talking about cheating.
also in before lock and thread deletion.

It seems to me that Lockheed_ and Bud Crue provided all the correct answers. To prevent any further discussion on cheats or moderation, which would be against the CoC, I'll lock this thread. For any further information, please contact moderation@mwomercs.com or DM me directly.
Thank you.
