Hello, excuse me if its FAQ, I've returned after 2 years.

I'd like to use the game client from Steam for its cloud features.
Is it possible to login into the old account via Steam client?

no steam account link. it just downloads the game. and transfers it to the game when you buy something.
You can login with any account you want.

My MWO account used to be MWO direct download/patch model.

After I've purchased Steam MWO goodies, have been logging into MWO (and game patching too) via Steam.

Steam is much more convenient.

game account is different from steam account. you can log into the game from either client with the same game account.

i recently had the reverse problem, i wanted to buy the legends packs through steam, but i wanted to keep using the stand alone client, because its configured the way i like. i had to download the game again to redeem the packs though. but i still use the stand alone client.
