Would be nice if colors weren't so goshdarn expensive, but they give away some freebies occasionally.
Considering any colors we bought 10 years ago we can still use on all our mechs at any time? Actually, wasn't too awful. They're expensive at first but become more valuable as time goes on and as you buy more mechs. But yeah, we are overdue for a sale on colors.

The few colors I bought were on sale and not all that long after launch. Still wouldn't really call it a good investment at the cost of them but I still had some hope left they'd develop the community warfare mode. Hard to see any value at the cost now knowing the game is pretty much just riding towards shutdown with no sequel really even being considered.

Well yes, but once youve got ECM sorted you still need to account for MK1 Eyeball spotting, hence camo. Not that it works, obviously, since any camo that makes you blend in on one map will make you stick out on others.

At the distance that colors could make any difference, they simply don't matter - 99% of it, especially at the further long ranges is just picking up movement of the polygons and shaders switching.
Even stealth trashcans and locusts don't blend in the moment they move regardless if they are camo'd up for the map or not. Bigger mechs are even easier to spot out against the background textures.

Its not a case of perfect blending or being invisible, though. Its simply a case of going unspotted for a half second or so longer so you can get the first shot and duck into cover, rather than getting shot first - and if you are in a mech thats not currently moving or skylined, appropriate camo for the map can (potentially) give you that time when something pokes its head up.
Its obviously a very minor thing, but i did notice taking less fire in my Shadow Cats on Colosseum when i painted them purple to match the terrain, so i think theres some effect.

I would suggest it has far more to do with you gaining experience on the map and having better positioning than your color. Once you start to understand that that map is a medium/fast heavy brawler map and figure out how high and where you can kite around on the hills it makes a massive difference.
