So far, legendary mechs have been available immediately after their announcement, without a pre-order. I don't think it's a new Legendary, even if they have used the word in their tweet.
Anyway, we'll know soon enough.
Personally I don't care about the Rhino, I want a Wasp+Stinger pack.

Besides the mechporn aspect a new mech like this brings, how would this " significantly change the MWO battlefield"? Serious question. This thing post-dates my BT game play days and just looking on Sarna, it doesn't look like it can do anything that a correspondingly configured Dire can't already do. Assuming they put the top ballistics in the RT and LT and given where the CP is located, you're still going to half to expose as much as you would in a Dire to bring your weapons into play. So I am just not understanding what the big deal is about this mech in terms of its potential impact on game play.

Its a Battlemech, so wont be stuck with a 300 engine like the Dire and can use all the slots in the STs (Dire cant do things like 2xAC10 in a ST, for example)
A lot depends on what variants we get. The Stone Rhino 6 has 15 energy hardpoints, 7 in each ST. No Dire could hope to compete with that for energy builds - you can get up to 16E on a Dire, but 8 of them are in the arms. (If we get this variant i predict we will be seeing a lot of 6 LPL builds with XL350s)

I actually didn't know it was a Battlemech and not Omni! It was the first mini I ever got from a salvage box and I just think it looks dope. I'm even more hopeful they're actually doing it now!!
I have a dream and that dream is a Blood Asp to surpass all others í ¾í´£

Previously, when a new mech chassis was released (Hatchetman, Crusader for some recent examples), there was a small "pre-order" window, which is a point where you can pay to get access to the new mech before you can buy variants with C-bills in the in-game store. This pre-order also typically has other bonuses, like unique cockpit or cosmetic items. IIRC, most pre-order windows are about a week long, which is why it's being available for pre-order on a Monday.
I am fully predicting this is a Stone Rhino. This will be the only mech I pre-order. Ever.

- Stone Rhino 6 A close combat dueling design based on the Stone Rhino 5, the Stone Rhino 6 is armed with a simple yet effective loadout of 14 Medium Pulse Lasers. These are backed up by a single ER Small Laser.[6] BV (2.0) = 2,981[14]
- BHN-6H Behemoth Assigned to Gordon Zed of the Zalman Bloodname, even downgraded with primitive Succession Wars era technology his Behemoth was a powerful 'Mech that caused mass panic and confusion whenever it took to the field with Wolf's Dragoons Alpha Regiment during the Third Succession War. Zed's Behemoth swapped the large pulse lasers for PPCs, the small pulse laser for standard model and the twin Gauss rifles for Autocannon/10s with four tons of reloads, the extra weight for this loadout and the heat sinks to make it viable is made possible by a reduction to 200-rated standard engine, greatly reducing its ground speed. Like many Dragoons, Zed and his Behemoth would fall during the brutal Battle of Misery, and though the Draconis Combine might have salvaged the 'Mech, they were never able to repair or reproduce it.[17][6] [18]

I have purchased 3 of the legendary's-well they were okay...maybe. They were assaults-my favorite class.
I hope if it is the Stone Rhino I will not be let down or might just hang this hat up and spend my money on more TT Battletech instead.
