Do you as players think this is worth getting as a mech pack. And if so which pack do you all think is worth it in game.

I see a lot of players saying this Mech will be bad or wont last long in combat. Lots are citing it looks like a Marauder shape, but as a mech Marauders of all types seem like a very competitive mech in games.

Its very expensive here in Australia as a pack and i wanted to see what others think so i don't buy another bad pack of mechs..

What do you think either way.

I think yes high mount options fully articulated arms, really nice hardpoints and idk why people would cite marauders as bad shaped their shape is good, I fully expect this thing to be a better direwolf

in one word NO, none of the mech packs are worth the cost of an entire brand new game but thats just my opinion.

as for the mech itself i have been sort of meh on it from the start. its likely mostly due to being a lore hound and only one single Stone Rhino was ever constructed and though it was devastating it was also very slow and had extremely limited ammo (it was also over 100 tons and classified as a super heavy, not something available in MWO)

Youre thinking of the Matar not the Rhino

if i remember right the Stone Rhino prototype was built during the Amaris civil war and though did well for itself was buried and badly damage (if i remember it was loaded with 3 Gauss rifles). (it might have been rediscovered in the Blake era but i know next to nothing about that time period).

then again its clan mech in MWO so i might be mistaken.

i'll look up the Lore then come back

after checking Sarna you're right it was the Matar that i was thinking about. i was also mistaken on the loadout the Matar had 2 LPLs, 2 Gauss Rifles, 1 ER LL, 1 MPL, 2 Flamers, and ECM (dang thats nuts), (i am fully willing to accept my mistakes, then again i do have memory problems at the best of times)

still my main comment stands. no mech pack is worth the cost of a brand new game. $10 maybe $15, $20 tops for the full pack but not what they want for it. even at that point most full DLCs now days are $15-$20, even the MW5 DLCs had more content for your buck. if PGI really wants to make money they need to cut the costs on their mech packs then again some Advertising should be first on their agenda (well that and the new player experience) but thats a talk for another thread.

(though on a Lore note the Stone Rhino is based off of the ill fated Matar so easy enough to make the mistake, just took the original design and made it work by using the lighter clan tech)

I understand the lore part, people love it or hate it, its a divisive mech in the community, that said the ultimate pack is over $100 AUD here.. so i'd like to see how the thing performs and how it will or wont be nerfed.. Really interested in the 14-16? medium pulse variant myself.

I bought into SC years ago early on, big mistake, that games never going to be completed.. At least these mechs will arrive good or bad.

according to D A T A it will be very good he never gave specifics since he is not allowed too but since he is in the cauldron he has access to all its quirks and hit boxes etc and he says it will be very good.

il wait till it comes out for cbills. if they want me to buy mechpacks again, they can restore the $20 standard pack. legendries are acceptable though.

i find it weird you have to buy the standard mechs before you can buy the champion/hero

I'm getting them just to have them in my stable, and just to throw some money PGI's way for this great game I have enjoyed the last few years.

Besides why not "Stone Rhino" I love blowing my kids up with one when we play TT Battletech.

paywalling the option to buy the hero is just gonna make me not buy the hero for cash, event mc maybe when its out. i got the hatchetman hero on sale before the standard variants even came out for cbills.

Thats good and all but for how long.. if its insanely op nerfs appear asap. $100+ and then nerfed three weeks later.. ehhh you can see my apprehension after Legendaries..

yeah no mech pack is worth $100

if PGI wants to make money they have to target the minnows more than the whales. new players are far more likely to spend money on the game since they haven't had the time to accumulate free MC from events and such or the tons of C-bills we old hats have laying around.

what i would do is to take the old mech packs and lower the price to what the MC variants of the pack would cost if purchased with real money (plus maybe a few bucks) and include the cosmetics that were only available to pre-orders when they were released.

also lowering the cost of the new mech packs to something more reasonable. (i have never spent any money on the game because i have always seen them as to pricey, the one mech pack i got (the Striker Pack) was a reward from a forum contest)

as for the legendaries i am sort of meh on, they stink to much of pay-to-win to me. that is one of the things i love about MWO and that is that it has always had almost zero pay-to-win in it. i know the game needs momentary income to keep going but one can go to far.

Sending money to PGI is not about buying a mech, it's about keeping the servers running. If you are willing and able, by all means, send them money...

Again which is great as long as they don't get nerfed like the legends did. I have not purchased them yet.

some of us grognards are approaching whale status. im at least a porpoise by now. so when a single mech pack cost more than my entire year of steam purchases of other games i have to question my spending. if it wasnt for my tailings at the end of the crypto boom i probibly would not have gotten the legendaries at all. the though of having to pay for exclusive content this late in the game after so much contribution is kind of a slap in the face. f2p model needs to reward initial buy in more to encourage a first purchase, but provide cumulative discouts to players that buy a lot of stuff so that at some point full access is granted. id like to see the legendaries come out as standard variants at some point, even though i already own them.
