Does anyone have a working config (with skills) for this? I currently try to use 2 ac5 (because quirks) but it's very hard. On paper it should be like the CN9-D with 2 lbx5 but the WVR is so squishy... Most of the time i die with less than 300dmg taken. I try to benefit from the cooldown quirks/skills but apparently this means to much facetime for a WVR.

I think you're on the right track. Or you could go the MRM route. There isn't a lot to do on this variant to be honest.

But true, it's fragile, so you must be really careful with your positionning (better be a juicier target than you in sight ^^). About the facetime, it's the same for the Centurion and other small AC boats.

So far I've found the Wolverine to be a decent MRM poptart but not much else.

MRM are possible but there are much better mechs for that. The only unique characteristic for this WVR are the ballistic quirks, so i am not a fan of using MRMs on the WVR. The CN9 is the better AC boat because: 28% more armor. It seems that the WVR is decent in any way and i believe there is no need for this at all... And on top he is a bringer of bad luck. Most of the games are stomps and i got killed from behind more often than in any other mech Posted Image

I tried with 2 AC5 and it was pretty pathetic. Went to 2 AC5 3SRM2 to have some kind of bite at close range, still pathetic. Gave up on it 35 skill points in and sold it. I can do MRMs on the MASC Wolvie and my Shadowhawks will do it better anyway. The 2H can run MRM60, an LFE280 and plenty of ammo. The 2K can do it with an XL for more speed/payload or do Snubs/LPPCs mixed with MRM/SRM.

Just by memory I think mine runs 2 ac5 with lrm 5 + 2 x lrm10. Might switch it to all lrm5 and a larger engine for scooting around the map.

Just started messing with the line again last night to kill some routine while mucking through the event.

Most of the Wolvies are either "something else WILL do this better" or "this is just ****". The 7D is so far the only genuinely enjoyable one. The 6R and 6K were so painful to try and grind out I sold them to get the mech bay back. Waste of Cbills and time.

For 6r, my set up is ac5, md laser, and 2srm4with light engine at 88kph - I tried running with 3srm4 at 82, but the lower speed was hurting. FOr a time, that setup was my favorite Wolverine varient for a while. I still use it, though 7k with 3md laser and 3srm6 is my preferred.

... I'm calling bs on 21 tons of weaponry with minimum another 2t ammo and an LFE300 fitting in the 6R. LFE300 with no mounted sinks alone is 20.5t. You either have practically no armor, practically no ammo or both.

I think he's running 1 ac5.

I'd say "underutilization" but 2 AC5 was so anemic I'm not sure it matters.

the ac5s with .7 cd and reasonable range are why I went with lrms. dumb fire is going to drop where you are shooting the cannons. definitely not my favorite line of mediums.

What about dropping down to a pair of UAC2 and engaging from longer range, or as a flanker when a couple of assaults start reenacting their favorite kaiju movie?

Yesterday i had some 700+ dmg matches with this mech. Enough for a "Mechgineering" highlight video on youtube Posted Image (because no one shows all the terribile maches you have to play to get the good ones). So maybe i found a working config for me... or it was just luck.

Yeah, it's a single AC5. It was working great for me for a few weeks. Now, I can't seem to perform as well as before with it though.

For the 6R, I'd suggest LB10+3SRM4. If you die with only 300ish damage, twist more. This build will encourage that. Fire twist fire repeat. Spread damage. Or take the XL out and use LFE instead.

Yeah, old thread, but the above is why you don't see a lot of Wolverines. You get pretty decent damage off that build with a 25% cooldown bonus... or you could field almost the exact same loadout in a Centurion D with a 40% cooldown and lots more armor.

Mechs no one ever plays need quirk passes. Give our old blockheads (to pull from Dougram Fang of the Sun where the model came from) some love.

EDIT... for example, the extra cooldown with an AC/5 does not work with a LIGHT AC/5. LAC/5 gets only the 25% cooldown.

Yeah, thread necro best necro. :P

Some of the older mechs do need a bit of quirk love. The 6R is workable, just feels like work.

My fav mech in the game.

XL300 (with max speed tweak) puts it at an even 95 KPH
Endo steel and light Ferro Fibrous
2 Double heatsinks in the engine
Max 370 points of armor (Max all armor skills)

1 Medium laser
3 SRM4s
AC5
Mag-Shot
Laser AMS
Beagle Active Probe
Case in left arm for extra ammo (your not saving the engine, just making sure the damage stays confined to the arm).

Ditch the JJs

Two buttons for the fire control, 1 for the AC5 to suppress while you get close, and 2 for EVERYTHING else as they all have the same range bracket. It's fast enough, it doesn't worry about heat, and I eat any other medium in the game.
