I want the Men Shen reeeeeal bad. (Sha Yu, Duan Gung, Emperor, Thunder and Lao Hu would be sweet too for a Liao package but they're not Omni)

I've used the Men Shen in Mechcommander 2 and they are fun to play with. I'd love to see how PGI makes that mech. The ECM and MASC combined for it will make it a hoot to play.

Would you think that LFE based variants of IS OmniMechs would break the game? They are described as the only equivalent to Clan XL's lorewise. After all the only IS Omni that has an LFE engine is the Hauptmann. Would you be opposed to the Hauptmann getting an LFE engine?

The Hauptman uses a standard 285 engine not a 285 lfe engine.

There was a lot of discussion in this thread months ago about how PGI should simply be willing to change Omnimech engine stats if its the difference between making a mech good and a mech being useless trash. I for one would rather have more cool things in the game than less, though, naturally, the fact that it is IS that would be getting a fun thing, is unacceptable to you.

I'll be honest they can try the water with R variants of IS Omnimechs they're obviously mixtech and it be a interesting addition to the game just lock clan weapons in specific omnipods and don't offer them any out of so8 quirks unless the mech is super bad overall, and boom IS Omnimechs become much more interesting, so IS can have access to some juicy clan stuff while the clana can have access to the C variants of IS mechs which is a truck load to pull from.

They complain about Xpulse and RACs which is just utterly mind-blowing

Once my right index is functional again I really look forward to using my new T3 status to introduce them to those terrible OP weapons (at a tier where they're more than just a liability and waste of tonnage)

Same here I'm glad that PGI is working on new tech to make the game more viable, heck they are even testing the idea with the shields being equipment. I'd be curious to see how they would do Partial Wings on Jumper mechs. The Shadow Cat Booster Mech was a missed opportunity.

As for KursedVixen, I see now that he is so full of it. I wanted to give him a chance to explain his claim of how IS Omni XL's would break the game, but I didn't see that. Especially when bringing up the Hauptmann which doesn't have an IS XL. So it is what it is. Whenever you have a person who calls themselves a "Battletech Purists" that literally translates to, "I don't know I'm talking about and I'm unwilling to be open to change." After all this is a guy who criticized the colors of the UrbanMech IICs, Haske and Abbadon even thought they are based on Clan Coyote's Zeta Galaxy and Clan Hell's Horses' Delta Galaxy respectively.

Still, I wouldn't mind seeing IS Omnis have Standard Engine Variants or Light Fusion Engine Variants if PGI doesn't want to go the "IS Omni XL" route. After all, if they could turn the Howl into a Clan BattleMech and make the Annihilator C Gausszilla, then anything is possible.

sometimes i wonder if omnimechs are hard coded clan.

there are long standing solutions to every problem that is omnis would pose. forced xl? just add st armor quirks, forced std, more firepower quirks. so why dont we have any? seems to indicate there is some technical issue that's hard to crack.

That's what I wonder as well when it comes to IS Omnis. Sometimes I ask myself how hard it is to code something like that in? Granted while I have never used CryEngine, wouldn't it be as easy as copying the OmniMech mech code and pasting it as something else?
