The Sleipnir is more agile really.

That agility works great as a dual heavy gauss platform. It really helps to get the ordnance in position and on target.

Even better on the Cyclops Arges CP-AR(LGD) Legendary Mech:
~Dual Heavy Gauss, and up to +350m Seismic Sensor (and other good Sensor quirks) Posted Image

(Oh, we digress... Cyclops Arges is a Legendary Mech, and not a Hero mech...)

don't feel bad if you are having a hard time picking mechs for your free heros. i'v been playing for many years and still have trouble deciding. might be a bit easier for me as i am pretty much exclusively an IS pilot (i have many Clan mechs from free events just never used them much)

the light was an easy pick for me. got to complete my Urbie collection (the only light mech i play) so i went with the Street Cleaner.

as for mediums i am still trying to make up my mind right now i am stuck on the Blackjack-Arrow and the Uzial-Belial

for heavies it will probably be the Catapult-Butterbee (i love catapults and the Butterbee is a fantastic MRM boat) or the Roughneck-Reaver (i have the other two heroes and i sort of like the chassis, thinking 1 UAC/10, 2 LPLs or something)

Assaults are a bit complicated since none of the heroes i don't have really stand out to me. may just break down and get a Cyclops-Slapnir (though i suck with Guass) though the Charger-Lucky 7 and King Crab-Kaiju also look interesting enough.

today picked up the bounty hunter 2, the x-5, and chironex. i may also be able to get a dao breaker if i can make 400 mc in the next event phase before the sale ends. 32 heroes remain.

Yep, Marauder Bounty Hunter 2 every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I love my Marauders and the BH2 is a beast. Common builds are:

3ERLL, 3ERML, 1LG
6MPL, 1AC20, 1ERSL
2SPPC, 4ML, 1AC20

You can also play around with HG builds or take advantage of the ERPPC HSL+1 although I find the three ERLL with a single LG works better for my style as after the long distance sniping is done it stays in the fight longer at shorter ranges.

add the jester, shugo, and ravager to the pile. i made a killing in the event, plus the 6k from the annis. ended up with almost 10k mc. i also picked up six standard mechs on sale.

aside from the stone rhino and excluding dupes with bonuses, there are only 50 mechs in the game i do not currently own.

yikes that must have taken a good while to get that many. i have been sort of doing the whole one mech at least from each IS chassis myself. then again i don't buy mech packs so there is that.

as for mediums i ended up getting the Uziel-Belial (2 MRM-10s, 4 LPPCs) to be honest its a sort of sleeper mech. as i play i don't feel like i am doing that much damage with it but then the end screen pops up and wow every match i played with it was well over 500 damage (what i consider doing ok as long as i got a kill or a few KMDDs in there). hell one match was even over 950. it surprised e to be honest. (ok other than the one match where i popped a hill and had 3 Rhinos alpha me at once. nothing you can do about that)

with mc proceeds from 2 legendaries and 900 lootbags i was able to get a jester, a shugo and a ravager.

i only ran the jester once, but it was fun. but with only 6e hardpoints, probibly not winning any alpha strike contests.

the ravager was pretty good in the eq event.

the shugo needs ammo quirks. its a slow, undergunned and overly ammo dependent. maybe better if i swap the lb5s for lb2s and throw on some lerms for a rangeboat. not as good as erll vomit. i cant figure out what to do with it.

The Arrow can be a lot of fun.
I'll either grab the Frenzy or a second Deathwish so I can have one erML and one hML.

Light I went with HiThere, was the most interesting to me out of all the selections.

Haven't really dug into heavy/assault because I rarely play them unless its an event, but the Butterbee or Warrant look like they'd be a decent time. Number Seven looks like it could be a good energy brawler.

I had all the Hero mechs I wanted at this point so for the Beach event I had to take random stuff, I got:

L - Panther KK - because of the +40% PPC velocity +1LPPC HSL and the really cool paint scheme
M - Uziel BE - because of the goofy +295% MRM velocity and +1LPPC HSL
H - Night Gyr JK - because... cool paint scheme I guess?
A - Mad Cat MKII DS - because I like MadCats and wanted a pure energy build on one

We all know that the only Sleipnir build is the Quad LB10X build. Honestly though that thing packs a punch.

shugo was actually pretty good after i ditched the missiles for lb5 ammo and upgraded the engine to a hair under 60kph.

it still ran out of ammo.

welp i have now finished the event. my choices are as follows (build codes will follow each if you are interested.)

Urbanmech- Street Cleaner (1 LBx-10, 3 ER SLs) haven't played this one so no idea how it preforms. mainly chose it to complete my Urbie collection.

Ab:900P0|4dpD0|h^|h^|f?|aOqD0|h^|h^rD0|E@|E@|E@sD0|o?t?0u?0|JO|JOv=0w808080

Uziel- Belial (4 LPPC, 2 MRM-10) this one turned out to be a bit of a sleeper mech. doesn't feel like you are doing a lot but then that end screen pops up and seems that you have done quit well.

Ad8820h0|Ed|OG|OGpX0|X@|i^|i^qX0|X@|i^|i^rP0|G@|G@sP0|G@|G@tW0|GPuW0|GPvB0w808080

Roughneck- Reaver (2 UAC/5, 4 ER MLs) works pretty good. not sure why i chose it over the Butterbee but it was a fun wnough build to play.

AL8820:1|i^|Sgpb0|i^|F@|F@qb0|i^|f?|F@|F@rX0|1@|LOsX0|1@|LOtZ0|aO|LOuZ0|LO|LOv@0w:0:0:0

Cyclops- Slapnir (2 Gauss, 3 ER MLs) honestly its underwhelming. then again i suck with Guass on the best days so maybe thats it. i might try an LBX build later and see how that does. (my first builds on mechs always tend towards what the Quirks are leaning towards then i branch out)

Ag6:20Z1|bg|HOp21|HO|HO|m?q21|HO|HO|m?rl0|F@sl0|F@tl0ul0vA0|F@w:0:0:0

honestly i am a bit surprised that the builds i went with all sort of lined up close to the stock builds for the mechs. just with a few changes like engine size/typ2 e or to improve heat efficiency. hope you hall have fun with your new Hero mechs.

I find the Sleipnir more survivable overall.

Kodiaks I find generally disappointing, without being able to specifically nail down why. I suspect them being so large, and such a priority target for the enemy is most likely the cause. The only Kodiaks I have that work "okay" are ones set up as LRM boats and that I pilot like they are made of glass, and avoid brawling with, for fear of death. And that just seems kind of wrong for some reason...

Considering Kodiaks are the size of a mountain and move at a top speed of a mountain.. Its not surprising they are lackluster..

I went Cinder, Bellonarius, Protector, Boiler. (correction: Rival, not Bello. I got Bello on sale.)

Only one I would recommend in good conscience is Bello Nevermind, these are all questionable choices though I like Protector and Boiler has promise. Trying to decide what I even like on Rival.

Went with the Frenzy - 4 srm6, 4 srm4, 6.5tons

Worked out pretty slick after I actually put ct armor on, just enough ammo to clear a match, plenty enough splat people don't want to poke back out when you muscle into range.

Probably just end up with Butterbee and Wolf Pheonix so I have some random srm options if I ever decide to jump up to higher weights.

the ButterBee is a good mech but works better with MRM than SRM (i was contemplating getting it myself but went with the Reaver instead since i have a number of missile heavies right now). i might be biased but i do love the Catapults nearly all them are good, they your weapon pods are a target but the are reflectively short for a heavy letting you hill hump pretty well. many can even mount JJs if thats your thing.

I don't really care for MRMs that much. was looking at it with 4 srm6/a and 2 snubs. Don't play much other than mediums, thought that mech might be remenicent of the old splat cat way back when a couple srms was enough.

that might work. though it can hold 2 MRM-30 (no ghost heat) with some energy back and plenty of ammo. makes it a nasty costumer when you add in the quirks.

(edit typo)

Um, it doesn't have an MRM HSL+ does it? I don't remember it having one. There's a Crusader that can do that.

Yeah no Butterbee can't do 3 MRM30 without ghost heat.
