And how to identify them? Previously I remember their clan was PIR or something like that. Players would go out of their way to kill them first. Felt sorry for the guys.

The only time I remember the devs being in the game (when they gave a dam about the game) was decades ago in the beta. One was playing, died early and just happen to spectate my brother who was in a shot up jenner. He died not from gun fire but "fall damage" just from running around the map as lights tend to do over a small hill.
Dev: "that happen a lot?"
Bro: "very, good luck not dying when your legs that much shot up."
next patch:Lights all get leg armor buff and "fall damage" increase.

(I can see him in my Friend List for MWO ingame)
I MWO-friended him shortly after he was on board, and he accepted my friend invite.
Even chatted with him a little a while back, and my impression was that he's very eager improve MWO

(What he talked about in general was implemented into MWO by now!)

There's also the issue of burnout. If you spend 50 hours a week working on a game, you might not really feel like playing it all that much.

I've known someone who worked at Disneyland everyday a while ago.
When we went to Disneyland together for an outing, he said that "it did not feel like a holiday to him".
I guess the same goes for the folks working on MWO...
(That said, I personally feel that folks working on MWO needs to understand how MWO is played, who and why MWO players like this game, etc.)

Of course, but that's again, like 2 guys at this point.
The Cauldron honestly is best suited to balance the game because of play hours, bias notwithstanding. But PGI is also going to be biased about their own game too.

Obviously, these don't cover the time before that system was made, but I was playing from closed beta in the summer of 2012, and was at PGI from October 2015 to May 2022.
Official Dev accounts will have the PGI badge on them and also display in yellow on the end-of-game screen, but the PGI unit is voluntary, and not all devs are in it. I added Russ to it only in about 2019. There are devs who play on anonymous accounts as well. I know Russ has at least one, and that everyone in QA who played was doing it on anonymous accounts. The whole QA team were skilled players in 2018. I suspect only one or 2 of them kept playing much after the shift from MWO to MW5 dev work.
I can't really speak for what it's like now, but in 2021 and early 2022, when MWO was getting dev work back on it, I was the only one playing consistently. Francois played for a while, and occasionally others would join in, but rarely. I never met Krazz, but I've seen him in matches several times.
Yes, it's not easy to go play a game in your spare time when it's also your job. How many people do you know who end their workday and then go enjoy whatever it is that they do for work? It's challenging, and even I found it challenging sometimes when I'd started as a player and love this IP. I still find it challenging to enjoy this game now, after being forced to leave a project I loved because of a toxic work environment.
