today I had no groups on both sides (or small, and/or not organised fw-groups, no idea),
but
the solos did a good job on both sides to play it more or less as intended.
no yolo-ing, not too much erLL trolling (though still MANY lurms on both sides).
->
not as much fun as 2 organised fw-groups duking it out, but much more enjoyable
than 1 group farming pugs.
also WAY more enjoyable than the usual QP-matches.
so all in all:
thanks for the drops, gents. whoever you are.
I hope some of you have found interest in factionplay,
and we shall all meet in the next faction-event
(@PGI: MAYBE limit groups for these, I think it srsly helps in pugs vs pugs).

Hey PGI if you really want to bring FP up, try reversing the way the matches are built. Currently groups get pushed to the front of the line, and any empty spaces are filled, which works great if you have a team on each side, but more often than not what ends up happening there is only one team, so it's a stomp. So what happens if instead of pushing the comps to the front of the line, we hold them back until another comp shows up, and let the randos go ahead? I've seen plenty of people say how they enjoy FP, as long as they don't have to play against the **** who get their rocks off by stomping players that want nothing to do with them in the first place, so why not give them what they want? Will the comp teams have long wait times, sure but no more than they already have to deal with. The difference is the overall participation in FP goes up.

If FP ever starts using a good matchmaker to forcibly separate weak players from strong ones, and separate groups from solo players, we would have something to talk about.
Until then, what we will mostly have is a small number of hardcore FP players hitting these events hard, while large numbers of casual players are just barely willing to grind out event rewards, if that.

I admit it were easier because of the larger population in queue to ride this event.
Would be nice if so many people would involved out-of-event time. Were refreshing that not need to wait ~25-30 mins to get a match but only about 2-4 mins.

Huge part of the issue, but they have never addressed it so I doubt we will see them do it now. The best part of the event is just being able to play the regular QP maps like Forest Colony and stuff but having 4 drops, it adds an extra level to the game. I wish there was just a dropdeck quickplay mode... that would be awesome.

Unrelated to Faction Play: Mods to MW5 have figured out how to enable ammo switching. Is there any way we can implement that in MWO? It'd be nice to be able to switch to HE ATM ammo when you're being pushed and not have a minimum range. The tradeoff being that it's unguided, or at least that it has a limited maximum range, and you have to remember to switch to longer ranged ammo for longer ranged fighting.
Additional benefits to ammo switching would be: specialty ammo for standard autocannons (instead of UAC or LBX being straight up "better"), and being able to use LBX autocannons the way they were intended.
Specialty LRM ammo would also be fun.
