Finally got a chance to play it. This is the absolute worst map in terms of invisible geometry. There's nothing more frustrating than having a clear line of sight between your barrel and your target and watching your round hit an invisible wall. It's so bad on this map that I watched it happen to someone shooting at me. No joke. Saw the sparks from a GR, then saw the shower when it hit thin air about 10 meters in front of them.

Things like this should serve as a wake-up call for the people around here who fantasize that MWO is going to draw in a serious competitive crowd. This game as it stands is so ratchet.

I despise it, utterly. It enables those with stealth+ecm to be even more trolly. Every single time IO have tried to move on the map, and not in a static blob I've has some rotter with stealth+ecm singling me out. They know that they are effectively invisible on this map and by jolly do they have their fun at some poor soul's expense.
I object to it on this principle alone.

it's like a deeper version of the original polar highlands with the random addition of the PINK CURSE I don't like it.

the pink curse (pink lights) make you more visible.

Starting to see the warts. There are just tons of little spots to snag you on the mounds and you can't really see them. Gonna try night vision (the mode almost nobody uses) and see if that improves it.

using JJ and Landing on these metal pieces is sending me flying and dropping me 100 ms into the ground...

So like Solaris building tops and occasionally some surfaces on Mining.

I actually wonder why that would be, because yeah, especially on Mining. I can't really see what does it on the top of those Solaris buildings.

Depends if you have asperger's like me, then the pink really does not help at all>.>

I liked the layout overall, don't really care for the color/lack of lighting. It seems to want to be a sunset/sunrise kind of thing but it just kind of feels bland. Like some sort of artificial fog of war that starts right at your cockpit.

Wasn't really having a problem without nightvision as far as navigating or spotting mechs - the lighting to me just makes the map feel boring. There's details there that should be interesting and adding texture but it all just looks washed/coated over.

managed to play a few matches on it and i have to say so far i like it. yeah it has its issues with visibility but that is sort of a charm. haven't tried out any of my LRM boats on it yeah. mostly was playing id range yesterday (MRM Marauder a little, and few matches with my NIghtstar, mostly it was my MRM-30, 3 snub Hellslinger, only the Hellslinger and one Urbie event were on the Ceres)

but yeah so far i like it. hands down it has to be the best Domination map we have so far. haven't played it on conquest yet though. (one match Domination, one match Assault, 1 Match Skirmish). hoping to get some more matches in later today and i think i will bring my LRM boat to test how well that works. will all the Assaults runnin around thats a lot of big slow targets for me to rain on. it looks like it might be a good map for LRM, not to overpowering but still doable (sort of like Marric was before they ruined it but not as overwhelmingly good as say original Polar Highlands was). the map seems good for all range brackets. plenty of good sight lines for long range sniping (LRM maybe but don't know yet, though LRM are best employed under 500m), mid range does well and there is plenty of cover for the Bawlers to get into range.

honestly if they turned up the base Gamma for the map just notch or two i think that would fix the visibility issues i think. not by much though. i like having a dark map.

Great idea for a map, damned useless with anyone who has any kind of visual impairment - black/ grey on grey with dark sky and mist, perfect storm for a quiet quit.

I like it lots of hills for cover and twist and turns.
Plenty of cover for protection and concealment.
Which are the bane for most lurm boat pilots.
But not for me I like a challengePosted Image

Can't say from a "boat" perspective but I was bored and dropped my 4J a couple matches into this map and with a uav/little scouting it would pretty much drop lrm10s on top of anything you could target. The hills seem "hilly" enough that the rain can fly to most spots, at least for IS lrms.

Reckon it would be better for a boat than a lrm brawler.

The map is so dark that it strains my eyes looking at it. Thermals and night vision don't work well on the map.
It is not one I would pick as a first choice.

Thermal is just utterly useless. You can't see the terrain, so you can't tell that there IS a mech back there and it's a hill obscuring it. NV is alright out to about midrange, at that point you really have to squint to spot silhouettes.
