The players have chosen the map, now you can decide which mech you like to play.
Simple as that. Fun !!

Of course you can set your default mech. There is also an option that randomly picks a mech from your inventory. Those smart programmers from MWO !!

Would make sense and it would give drop decks an actual reason to exist outside of FP. Don't expect too much though.

That would break the mm though as its trying to form roughly evenish games depending on whats in the queue. The solution is a quick play drop deck that lets you load up mechs of the same tonnage or similar tonnage range and then after you get pulled into a match and pick your map and mode you get to choose which mech to run. Allowing any mix of tonnage like on a faction deck would mean people would just pick the meanest mech they can for the given map and that would lead to boring games.

But they will all choose their meanest mech ! Doesn't seem boring to me...

That would most definitely break mm.

However...

How about:

You queue with 75t mech (e.g), and you can take any 75t mech/variant from your mechlab, after map selection?

How about you have a "default mech," like the one you have now when you search for a game, but now, after map selection, you get 120 seconds to go into mechlab and change your build?

If you don't finish in 120sec. you drop with your default.

The issue I have with that is that it is another situation that's pretty unfriendly to new players. A new player won't have the map knowledge to know what to change in their mech to optimize for the map nor saved loadouts to quickly change to, so that solution would simply result in new players having an even more difficult time adjusting to the game because their mech loadout will be even less optimized to the map in comparison to who they are fighting against. They'll be at a bigger disadvantage than they are today.

They can use the drop deck for this and have players pick one from it (default on first mech if they fail to pick in time).

Another nice thing they can add is to let us assign a camo/color for each biome that just automatically changes based on what map we get.

New players ?? I thought this game was on the decline. However, we all need to learn one day now don't we. And: the new mode might even eventually speed up learning time.

I have another idea.

Do you remember MechWarrior 3? The dropship was destroyed and mech lance was dropped in different random places.

How about that one defender team start together. And another attacking team dropped on some huge map in very small groups 1-3 mechs.

Attacking team could be easily killed one by one but there is some object, which must be defended by any case.
