A Very Good synopsis of what we know so far. If you plan to keep this up to date as further information becomes available you might want to expand a little on the three kinds of Experience (Character XP, Mech XP, and Faction LP).

What "current game"? The only thing we know at the moment is that there are plans for more emphasis on electronic warfare, and we know one thing they've talked about is using some sort of UAV to see things from a high vantage point. We can assume though that we'll probably see things like BAPs, C3 Networks, ECM, NARC beacons and TAG lasers but there's been no word about how they'd actually work in-game.

By current game I mean the version of Mercs MekTek is releasing

In a recent interview, and podcast, it was said that LPs or XPs will lead to unlocks for certain faction-only 'Mechs. I don't have the specific sources, and it's been expressed that it was a slip that has not been verified, and they meant to say skins rather than 'Mechs, though any chance at clarifying this slip has gone unheeded, thus far.

Im not sure if this was answered yet, and I don't have the source on me. What they said was that certain mechs can be unlocked FASTER with certain factions, but eventually all factions/players can get all the mechs.

Probably get flamed for this, but...

I like all the info in one spot, very nice and tidy to see what we know.

BUT

You've listed several hypothetical ideas in your 'confirmed' section. Sevaral of your bullet points use the word 'may.' You should remove your opinions on what the develepors may or may not mean and list the actual 'confirmed' info there, and move all your conjecture to the rumor (started by you) section, as having all your opinions in the 'confirmed' section doesnt actually make them 'confirmed.'

Anyway, not tryin to start a flame war, it just feels a little misleading with all the conjecture in the 'confirmed' section.

Great info, tho, thanks.

I actually agree. :P Far too much assumptions and opinion. I'll try to clean it up.

Also I've added some more stuff based on the latest Dev Blog.

  • Timeline-wise, MWO will initially focus on various military interactions between the major players of the Inner Sphere, the Successor States. The developers have stated that, for the purposes of introducing major canon events, the timeline of the in-game universe will match up with our own, so that one year in the real world will equal one year's time passing in the BattleTech universe. 2012 in the game's universe is 2049; therefore, the Clans will not make an appearance until roughly a year after the game's initial launch, in 2013. Source.

Why would the Clans not show up till next year? If they are holding true to the timeline, the Clans should invade in August.

  • It will take time to iron out game balance and squash bugs.
  • We should not be able to "god mode" the game and know what happens when.

Most matches will involve teams of 12 vs 12 fighting against one another according to the devlopers, though this depends on technical capabilities required for the full game and could possibly be lowered (to 8v8, for example). Source.

Community Q&A 2 – Community Warfare

How large are you planning to make match sizes in terms of number of players? 4 vs 4, 8 vs 8...etc. –Red Beard

[MATT C] The current plan is for a maximum of 12 vs. 12 so long as we can ensure a solid play experience for that many players, otherwise we would fall back to 8 vs. 8.

Just trying to help out, I think you should edit this section on your list of confirmed info. Maybe it is just me but the answer Matt C gives reads different then what you have. Maximum is the key point I am trying to bring up. When I read this it makes me think they will let players set the match size they want up to a Maximum of 12vs12 or 8vs8 depending on the stability of the games.

There was something else they released recently that also whispers in my memory this is more to what they had in mind, if someone sees it or I find it I will add it to this thread.

God Mode nothing, it's an established timeline they said they were going to stick too for the game. First contact with the Clans happened in 3049 which they mentioned is equal to 2012.

Need to keep this on the frontpage. So more useless threads dont appear talking about hypotheticals and what ifs.

RUMOURS! (Yes, with a U)
  • At launch, players will have immediate access to Mechs of all sizes, from Light to Assault. This was stated by a developer via a forum post, though some time has passed since this statement and we do not know if this remains true.
Again, if you have any information please post it, and give some source!

It was pretty much confirmed in this thread.

I am one of those who saw that. It was once said by a dev long time ago. I am not even sure which forum section it was on (General or Suggestions), but I can swear it is true. You will not find the source now, though, as it will be realy deep in old threads, sorry. :)

It makes sense.. I think the P2P system will run something like WoW "IF" you could buy gold.. (cough... cough.. Susan.. cough.. cough..)

I.E. You can "Buy" a better mech (Mount) if you have the gold.. BUT if you dont have the exp and level to properly operate the said Mech it will be useless to you.

Say if you had to have materials to improve your Mech modification skills.. You can simply buy the materials instead of grinding for them.

BUT if you wanted to save real world money you can grind or trade with others to get say 10 Clan Tech computer boards to get your CT Mechanic skill level up a slot..

Something like that is what I think they are thinking.. but we won't know until we can get into the game..

Makes for a F2P that is not P2W.. still have to level and get exp, and you still have to build loyalty points by playing the game.. but as for materials and things like that you can buy them.

I think this would be interesting as well (especially in the wiki)
Quote from massively

Quote

Players will also be able to put their own stamps on their giant mechs by customizing skins and patterns. Mercenary units, and eventually faction-based units, will be able to customize the logos that stick on their mechs' armor. While there are still plenty of details and concerns over legality to be figured out, the plan is to eventually allow players to upload their own designs for logs. In the meantime, the developers will hand out a set of pre-made logos that can be used. There are no plans to allow players to place appearance pieces on their mechs simply because a mech's physical geometry can actually affect gameplay. So for now, skins and logos are the only areas of customization.

I just think it is a good thread, so I "revived" it :)

Excellent post.

I was excited about playing a "Lone Wolf" until I read I would just be a random "pickup" for someones game.

meh :) .

So here I go, re-submitting my app in the recruitment threads. At least there was no more time wasted.

Nothing is set in stone yet , which is why I stay where I am , and keep my powder dry. ( and the beer cold )
