I like the layout of the map.

I like that its dusk/dawn darker overall.

Night vision sucks so bad, that if you don't have ecm, good luck.

Bring back blue vision from 2013 or make nighvision way better. Its so useless. Its easier to see by just cranking up the gamma / brightness setting than use that trash. Get rid of the arbitary darkness range cutoff of night vision, and make warmer objects give off a slight glow so you can actually see anything with Nightvision.

Lock it behind a skill node or 5, don't care -- just give me a reason to use night vision.

Sincerely, me.

Agreed, thermal and night vision needed overhauls years ago.

actually don't get why NV needs to suck so bad and thermal's view distance is crap anyway without what I am assuming is 3rd party GPU software shenanigans, which are going to be assumed to be used as default these days with their proliferation and lack of ability or inclination to address.

this game was never good at night fighting. no headlights on mechs, bad vision modes, poorly implemented night.

Has PGI looked at the Night Vision used by the US Military?

What we play with is HIGHLY unrealistic.

military still uses photomultiplier tubes iirc. you could use a high res camera with an ir pass filter and a high res display, but its still lower res and higher latency than the pm tube. a few ms slower response time and you got a tactical disadvantage. so they use old archaic tube tech instead of modern semiconductors.

anyway you usually fake it for games, pixelmultiply by green and brighten it up a bit.

Night vision and thermal were nerfed years ago and never looked at again. Night vision was always pretty much bad. I think it's brighter than it was, but has a closer drop off. They didn't want it to be useful for sniping. Thermal was definitely superior because not only was the range super high, but it was in color so it was super good for snipers. Some players would just turn thermal on and play that way. It was that good.

certainly not the epic good vision modes from the avp games.

never got to use predator mode as that was mostly removed from the game before i started playing. mwll had an ok night vision mode, but it was really basic. simple though it may be i kind of like the wireframe mode from mw2.

i think this falls under exploiting known bugs in the tos. however its a weird case where you cant really punish people for not doing the workaround (which may or may not work for everyone). bugfix required.

then make it a new vision mode.

...Okay that's the coolest **** and I am now very sad I don't see that. Not even about the vision, straight up Synthwave Wasteland aesthetic going.

Just having an AMD video card, according to you, is violating TOS?

It's the most technical of technicalities and since it's their shader issue I doubt they'd try and play that card, really.

Besides, it's a cool bug.

It really strains the eyes after a while, plus the textures look really bad.
I'd rather have the non neon version for actual gameplay, but it seems like there's no budget for a hot fix -.-

It's not even a technicality as it's not a feature that I can enable or disable somehow and it's all on PGI to release a fix, so calling this an exploit just utter insanity.

you want eyestrain, go play the extremity map in mwll. best mechwarrior map design ever. wish we could do something like that here.

anyway the real irony is they had this bug once before, fixed it, and then forgot what they did. i wonder what kind of weed they got in canada.

It wasn't just good for snipers, it was good for everyone especially with Frozen City being one of the most popular maps at the time. Everyone stood out. Snipers, brawlers moving up, lights trying to do hit and run, everyone was a high contrast target that moved so it drew the eye.

It was boring as heck to look at though, and basically negated the reason for paint jobs and bolt-ons to exist for some people (to show off to others).

No, that's just the excuse the military use. The real reason is the same as why the B52 is going to be in service for over a century; green screen night vision, and black and white thermal is already bought and paid for. it's cheaper to keep using 30 year old, antique tech than, to pay to develop and test a multicolor thermal/low light that's hearty enough to withstand field deployment.

<IMAGE ENHANCEMENT ENGAGED>

I would rather play in this pink mode than the useless thermal mode we have. No wonder people can see me across the map!

The MW:LL Maps blow the MWO maps out of the water. Its not even fair, tbh.

yes the military will use ancient junk if they can. but photomultiplier tubes are still awesome.

people were poor shaming me for using the MOST EXPENSIVE VIDEO CARD IVE EVER OWNED because i had the pink bug. or as i now call it, exclusive feature for amd users.

i also noticed how long it took their po' folks 3rd gen nvme ssds to load the game. i bet they spent their computer budgets on useless things like water cooling and led strips.
