I'm not a new player, but I don't know how to join a clan/guild. How do I do that?

There is no ingame mechanic. U need to get in touch with a unit U are interested in and then a unit member with the corresponding rights needs to send U a invite. Faction sub forum got an recruitment section and on mwo comp discord people can probably suggest units to fit your needs. But they will need far more informations. Time zone. What are U interested in (comp, fp just qp...), Clan /is/both. Your player level / how willing to learn...

Pretty much all units take along randoms, so U can test if u like the unit bye jumping there is /discord.

In what timezone do you usually play?
Are you IS or Clan Faction tech based?
Are you mostly playing QP or FP?

2. Our [SSBH] Team is more for QP fun, IS Faction based, mainly in Europe timezone...
We do have Discord for offline messaging, as well as Discord chat for real time ingame group communications...

3. My own personal advice, if you are determined to join a Team:

~Keep playing during your regular hours, take note of the other Teams you regularly encounter, and see if you can work something out with them!

Regular hours are a problem for me. I'm a casual player that plays a few matches before work, maybe one or two after work and then afternoons on my days off.
I've never been sure if I should join a clan or not because of my erratic play times. I'm currently tier 1, but consider myself more of a tier 2 player.

Just play QP as per your usual habits... the Team(s) you usually see are the ones you should be contacting...

Just be up front about what you've mentioned above, and if they accept, then it's great!

(There are casual Teams out there!)

that's really the right answer, to be fair-
the bottom line; if you will
If you're playing in QP - even qp much less faction - you should find if you demonstrate any level of communication or teamwork; you should be getting unit invites.
Frankly, if you're not getting unit invites based on your in-game performance; that is probably the answer to your own question.

The other option is read some of the many forum posts on recruitment- rather than posting a new one-
and see if any are of interest to you.
