Easy question on paint jobs and camo patterns.
I bought the Hero Stone Rhino with the mostly tan and red
paint job.
IF I change the camo pattern to say woodland and select colors
I own the original paint job and pattern will be gone forever, correct?

Though I'd like to change it I don't want to loose the pattern and colors.
Same with the Loyalty Griffin. It came with stunning patterns and colors.

Also, I went back to https://mwomercs.com/stone-rhino where it says owned on all
the Stone Rhino variants (I bought them all) to see if I could buy just another SR-K so
I could change it's pattern and colors and leave my original alone, but I saw no way to
purchase it.

Thoughts appreciated.
Robert

A warm welcome back to MWO!

1. When Stone Rhino hero mech is available for MC purchase, you can always buy more!
(For Premium Mech Packs, one can only buy one per account, so you can only have 1x SR-6(S) :( )

2. All Hero/Special_Variant mechs (including Loyalty mechs) have their own unique paintjob that you can always revert back to!
~Press [Restore_to_Default] for Camo
~Press [Restore_to_Default] for all paint colors

Voila! Your mech (Stone Rhino hero mech, Griffin Loyalty mech, etc. etc.) shows the default paintjob yet again!

Oh, and congrats on your Stone Rhino purchase!
Ever considered to change your Badge to reflect this? ;)

woQj thanks so much!
I'll have to google how to change the badge.
In the game, left hand side I found badges (that's where I found 'the Nimble', but didn't see anything
related to the Rhino even though when purchasing I bought the
Ultimate Pack. No big deal but am now curious/the badges look well done.

About that Rhino. I've never liked big heavy slow clumsy assault mechs....until now Posted Image
with JJ's and MASC I'm having fun!

Just another fantastic effort by the team behind it.
That and a new map. True MW fans (I've been stabbing at the game for decades) must surely be thankful.

Take care.

Here's a SR-K hero build idea from TTB; enjoy ;)

SR-K: 2xLBX20 + 6xSRM6 + JJ + XL350

Yes, as stated already, you can change the pattern of Hero mechs to any of the others but you'll always be able to restore the default pattern at no cost. You do this by using one of the hex buttons. It doesn't show it in the list of camos. You can independently change the colors of the Hero pattern as well to any you own or also revert back to the default colors in that pattern. Different Hero patterns behave differently, so your results will vary with what colors work well with the Hero camo. Some camo channels are more like a fader. Some are metallic or shiny and glean with a certain hue that looks good with some colors but not others. So you'll find times when you pick a color but that's not the color you get and this is because of how the textures are designed and how they blend in with each other in CryEngine.

If you buy a camo, try One-Shot camos. They are 1/10th the MC price of the Unlock camos meaning you'd have to change the One-Shot pattern 11 times or apply it 11 times to any mech of that chassis (i.e. Stone Rhine, Timberwolf, etc.) before it's cheaper to go the Unlock route. And changing the colors doesn't count as changing the pattern so if you buy a One-Shot camo, it will keep that pattern unless you change it (and save) at which point you'd have to buy it over if you switch back to it later. Colors are single purchase, universally owned though.

base patters are permanent. only ones that arent are one shot patterns that are good until you replace it.

Only one shot camos are gone forever after you change it.
