Hit Box View In Loadout - What Ever Happened To It?

Hi

Long time ago I remember that we used to have an option, to view all separate hitboxes and learn from it as to what is where, such as where cockpit is, where arm and torso start and end.

So what happened to it? why was it removed? is there any way to see it now?

It was removed a decade ago when PGI changed the Mechlab to the UI 2.0 version.

UI2.0 was a mixed bag. There are things that i really like about it and things i don't, but man, the old mechlab looked way better. You couldn't easily view the entire paperdoll though, which makes the new mechlab, technically, more usable, even if its less pretty.

Most newer players will never know the thrill of the MWO Efficiency Tree (generic skill tree) nor the need to level up 3 mechs to unlock that tree completely!! And what about the Repair/Ammo costs!!

God what a chore.

Also repair and rearm, i've become convinced, was the diversion point in the timeline. It was pretty clear MWO was meant to be this plodding multiplayer RPG where everyone would only have a few mechs and a few bays, and each match was as much about staying ahead of the repair and rearm costs as it was winning.

When repair and rearm got removed (and to be clear, that was the right move at the time), it became an arena shooter right then and there. It is still an arena shooter today.

From what I read long ago, the hitbox in the mechlab was not the "real" hitbox in game though. But then someone disputed me on this point when I said something about it so I dunno if it was the real hitbox or not. It was a 3D selection of the part of the mech you were equipping for sure.

I kinda miss the old beta version for the color scheme and the more primitive, rawness of the game in beta.

honestly the clunkiest part of the current mechlab, to me, is the delay between slotting/unslotting something, and it actually happening.

Also I'd love to see hitbox view return. Relying on images on the forum is kinda annoying
