This is the last time I spend money on any Assault mech ever again. Enjoy that 40$ on that garbage you call an assault mech with less health than my light mechs.

Every Assault mech I own is being thrown away at this point because at no point in the last 10 years have I found assaults to be threatening or worth anything on the battlefield at all...

Never Again.

I'm sure this means you'll never make money off of me again because the only things I've seen you release in the last few years is Assault.

If you are T4, i dont think problem is with Assault mechs mate. You're yet to learn how to play the game. Stone Rhino is capable of some of the most OP builds ever. Koloss is better brawler than Scorch, and with 6 you can do absurd LaserVomit builds. Maybe Assault mechs arent your thing, playstyles differ greatly by each weight class.

The assaults they've been releasing this last stretch are some of the best machines in the game. Good mounts, piles of available tonnage (multiple 100t Clantech Battlemechs), good hardpoint selection. They're easier to kill than a good light (sometimes), but they ain't precisely *flimsy*.

It's not a tier problem, and tbh T2 is nothing to brag about either...

Anyway, OP, why did you bought an assault mech pack when so far you never had great success with this mech class?
(especially at the exact moment when they release the most awesome medium/light with the Scaleshot...)
I'm not good at assault mechs either (and I'm annoyed by their "light mechs don't sell" policy) so I don't often buy Assault mechs for real money, and when I do I know I won't play them a lot. Got to be responsible.

Running assault-class mechs can be an exercise in frustration. For the most part they are slow and if focused, melt quickly.

The thing about the Stone Rhino is that by now everybody knows how deadly they are so they are prime targets to focus down.

I don't know how the OP likes to play but not all assault mechs are meant to lead the charge. a lot of them are gun trucks meant to dish out the hate and due to their geometry/armour/hard point layout/mobility/etc, they tolerate less incoming fire than expected.

Good hunting,

Actually, PGI has added following non-assault 'Mechs since Summer 2022:
  • Viper VPR-SCS(LGD) "Scaleshot" - this Tuesday
  • Timberwolf TBR-H(LGD) - "Howl"
  • Quickdraw QKD-D(LGD) - "Desperada"
  • Shadow Hawk SHD-S(LGD) - "Scattershot"
  • Hatchetman
  • Crusader
Of course, there have been other non-assault 'Mechs before that: Sun Spider got a new Hero "Ambush", Roughneck also got a new Hero "Bolt". And some new variants of Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Cat, Madcat, Thunderbolt, Uller and Thor. Grand Dragon was added in 2021, etc.

Yeah, that's why no one plays assault mechs....

I got to T2 playing just an Executioner, and half of T2 through T1 with the Executioner, Incubus and Black Lanner. Assaults are a bit more dangerous to play now due to HAGs, but only marginally more. Especially since you can slap HAGs or Binary Lasers onto your own Assaults.

I think the OP though he was buying the OMG mech. He is primarily a medium/heavy/light player with over 3800+ games played, but has only played 15 games this month so far. Playing most assaults is definitely different than playing a med/heavy, they are definitely do not come with an easy win button.

Then why'd you spend $40 on it, and get mad when you don't like it?
Sounds like you fooled yourself.

Assaultz fer president! Big <3 4 Assaultz!
I think heavies and assaults are the two best classes. Some chassis\builds are situational, true, but otherwise they usually just ball-crunchers, extreme OP if have a light who protects yer fatty-booty... <= Try with playin with yer friends & git gud

Before OP asks: Ima T4 (3\4 way to T3 right now, but some group drop would help to fix that) but learn new stuffz from FP. Much ye see there nukes low tier players, really.

i find the lack of light mechs in that list disturbing.

You're not wrong. But that is my point. I won't be buying anymore. Mediums, Lights, MAYBE Heavies. They'll never get another dime out of me for some assault pack. I agree that some of the machines end up good, However they always come out as utter garbage with some major flaw that just kills them from the jump. Why would I want to continue to pay for that?

All of that on top of the developers ignoring the most played mech weights. At least then I'd tolerate the mistakes.

This is my personal stupid part. I just saw a new Mech. Not a new Hero or champ or some other rehash of mechs we've had for years. But a New Chassis. I didn't really look. I saw what it looked like and hoped it was a heavy or light assault. Nope 100ton glass cannon with no speed.

I have a couple assaults that i do like but theyre 80 to 85 tons and reach 60 ish

The skill requirements to effectively consistently pilot assaults well are higher than might seem immediately apparent. Some effort needs to be made to plan movement ahead because you can't react to changes as quickly. Positioning is much more important.

Watch some of the better streamers and how they position in assaults playing solo.

Assaults are powerful, yes. That also means if you're on the receiving end of 2-3 of them, you're toast in seconds. If we buffed armor on assaults (or all mechs) suddenly, everyone would complain their assaults weren't deadly enough anymore. If you have a mech that can demolish the field in your hands, it means several of your enemies have it too.

Would be nice to see Fire Falcon, Urbie IIC, Raptor, maybe Solitaire, maybe Owens, maybe Hollander for the memes

Firemoth is probably never ever

im sure the firemoth would work if everyone would upgrade to hardware less than a decade old. some of the speeds achieved in eq have been very firemothy, but you need a gpu that can keep up with the lod system.

I tend to do better with the lighter assault-class mechs as well. 100-toners are fun, but due to their general sluggishness, things can go south quickly if I don’t pay close attention to my team’s movements. The minute I get too far away/behind, it’s usually curtains for me.
