So, why is Frozen City, exactly? A map where it's just two lines of enemies waiting on their 3 collective Gauss boats to do some sort of damage? where being tall is just borderline undoable because almost every piece of cover is too short? and that's not even to mention the awful no-mans-land issue where trying to push pretty much anywhere is nonviable unless the entire team goes at once (they never will).

I don't think I've ever had an enjoyable experience on that map in particular? Every gamemode is just bad on it, Domination especially.

Hell, even range-skilled LRM boats can barely play the game because the engagement ranges favor near-exclusively Gauss and LB-X's

a giant pit of a no-mans-land

perfect for Gauss players to just sit ant farm damage for free

At least with domination, there's a circle you have to stand in. I find it one of the more tolerable modes on the map, honestly.

With Assault, the important square is on your side of the valley so there's really no incentive to do anything other than watch the folks who brought ERLLs play the game.

With all of the map revamps, remakes, and adjustments over the years, I kinda don't know why this one never got looked at. At least they gave us the original back.

I have had some good matches on this map and I was in a Kitfox with SRMs. Granted, it doesn't happen often and if it is Domination, then I am usually the one standing in the circle until the other team comes to find me and then I usually die. Most of the time I will go behind a building and wait until everyone gets tired of trying to snipe the other team. Then I get to have fun!

Waiting is hard when all you want to do is charge in and start blasting!

You too can play gauss mechs whenever you want. Or don't. It's your choice. Just as every other player has the freedom to play however they want to play.

I'm not sure that there *is* a brawling map exactly. Maybe Solaris City? Mining Collective has a pile of sniper perches. But there are definitely maps where who wins is essentially determined by who has the best sniper fire -- Alpine Peaks, most notoriously. Frozen City is pretty bad too but it is feasible to do a rush across before a sniper line is properly set.

How are those buildings not tall enough to hide your mech titan?
LRM mechs issue in that map is not range but TALL buildings that people use as cover. Also failing to see how this map favors LB20-X anyway, I'd say this map favors ERLL builds.

How my games on Frozen City go:

Skirmish: trade at long range until someone gets bored/does something ill advised and then that gets capitalized on by the other team. Matches usually end in a 12-4 outcome or thereabouts, and while it ought to be a toss up of which side of that I'm on, since it's me usually doing the ill advised thing to just get this hell to end, I'm more often the wrong side.

Domination: Goes mostly two ways: First way, no one goes in to the circle until some sniper assault player yells "hey are one of you idiots going to get in the circle?" which then becomes an argument, and then I mute everyone. Then one or two of the faster mechs, and one inexplicably slow mech, go to the circle, they all get sniped and the fast mechs run out while the slow mech dies before he gets to the circle. Then seemingly everyone except Mr. snippey assault exposes and heads for the circle. 12-2. Second way, there is an unspoken agreement and no one from either team goes into the circle and it plays out like skirmish, until which ever side is loosing decides to break the agreement and then get decimated as half there survivors head for the circle one at a time. 12-7. The rare third way is a full on nascar in the circle with good chunks of both teams; whomever has the stronger snipers shooting the race participants wins. 12-6

Assault: I hate this mode, and in my games I typically will type into all chat "trade for 15 minutes or trade sides" because this mode ALWAYS plays out one of these two ways. Either way its going to be a crap match and one side is getting rolled.

I honestly can't remember the last time I got Frozen conquest.

counterpoint: Gauss is boring gameplay and since it dominates open maps in general, you can barely play them if you don't subject yourself to the gameplay equivalent of a 4hr seminar on economics

What LBX Autocannons are you talking about? Classes Two, Five, Ten or Class Twenty?

Yeah, but someone has to stand in it, which causes things to happen, unlike Assault where no one has to do anything but sit by their square for 15 minutes.

I'm not saying it's good, I'm saying Assault is much worse.

5's and 10's still work quite effectively on FC, even with reduced damage from being out of optimal range.
honestly *only* 20's suck just about everywhere that isn't in someone's face from what I can tell?
Gauss is just in there with them because there's like...2 maps total that Gauss don't instantly set the mandatory engagement range to 2km by existing on it. I forget the names, one of them is that absurdly large snow map.
